I just came into possession of a PS3 and am thinking about get PS+. I was told by a friend that it will not be much beneficial for me since Sony will stop supporting PS3 soon and I have missed a lot of good games that had been given away to PS+ members before. For those who has PS+, is it worth getting it now when the next gen is already here?

I don't have it but IMO it's not worth it. It depends. As you're on here I'm guessing you're mainly a PC gamer, and most the games given away are on PC (and probably better on PC instead of console)

Well I got it for the exclusives. You do not get to play uncharted, god of war, heavy rain, ni no kuni, bunch of JRPG, and journey on PC. But $50 to possibly get 12-24 more games? I'm intrigued.

Yeah, but a lot of those might not go on for free and and you could pick them up for cheap anyway. If you've got enough money (and storage space, as Uncharted 3 for example is 40BG) then sure, you could get it. We didn't really have the money for it and just didn't bother.

PS+ is generally worth it as long as you keep in mind that you're not actually getting to own the games, you're renting them for as long as you have PS+. I'm not sure how right your friend is about Sony stopping support for the PS3, though it honestly wouldn't be too bad of a decision for them considering how the PS3 was coded. Looking at past history though, I estimate there's still at least a year of PS3 stuff left, probably 2.

I would have gotten it right away if sony had given away more games made from Japan like this and that. Those games rarely go on sale on amazon or at gamestop so it's really hard to get those sometime. My friend told me it will take roughly 1 year, mostly after the release of Personae 5 that the support will end for PS3.

no one buy sony can tell you a 100 % sure for the future of course, but in my opinion it is more than worth it. If you join now you can still play Dead Space 3 and some others, next month's games should be here soon too. and if you plan on getting a ps4, you can also start on stacking up those ps4 games aswell :)

However, Many of those exclusives you mentioned already have been in the PS Plus program though. so you will probably need to get them yourself.

Yeah, I doubt that they will readd those games to PS+ instant game collection :( Good thing they were released for years and I can get them or in bundles for a relatively small amount of money.

Also, I doubt that I will get a PS4 for at least 2 years since I just got a PS3 and the price tag for most PS4 games is still pretty high at the moment.

none the less, you ARE planning on getting a PS4? and you can already "buy" the games for it that come with ps plus. meaning that when you do get it you'll have a little downloadable library at the ready :) (like me, i already got Outlast for it).

i haven't seen them re-adding stuff before, so i guess it won't happen. would probably also upset the people that have been supporting it from the beginning :P

edit: you can also get the PS Plus on sale sometimes (like december?) and it'll be around 30 euro's not 50. at least, that's when i picked it up the first time around :)

I think the price for 3 months is very good, I used to be subscribed but took a break, Before PS4 came to place it was amazing with many titles being able to play, I have played numourous and completed alot such as the ICO and SOTC HD collection and Assassins Creed 3, I never got into it but Demon Souls was there at a certain time so, It is great, more needed if you own a ps4, but for ps3 its up to you! Also sony will not stop supporting the PS3 for a long while.

Not for exclusives since a lot of PS+ games will be multiplatform and also on PC. I got a PS3 for the same reason and bought all exclusives I want to play for it used on ebay (+I prefer the box).

I wouldn't recommend it for only one console. If you have a PS4 or Vita in addition to your PS3 than you would get a lot more out of it. I personally have it but I don't play/download all the games (I do save them in my downloads list just in case I would want to use them later).

I'm still waiting for a price drop on the vita, somewhere around $150 (it was $180 last holiday sale but I missed that sale).
