It's free but a credit card\paypal is required.
It's cool because it includes dlcs, but it's too expensive imho.

the store asks you for a payment method for the following month, nothing is deducted for this free month

Any way of trying this without payment information?

Pretty sure it's one of those "subscribe for free and if you forget to cancel before the end of the month (which we hope you do), you'll be charged automatically" kind of free trial, hence the reason they ask you for payment information.

No, it's not true, they are not thieves. I had the same problem with Origin Access (1 Week free trial) but they refunded my money as soon as I contacted support.

Oh, they'll refund you if you request it, usually. Such services still expect you'll just forget about it, and once the time come you won't be bothered enough to request a refund. :P

It is also used as the only sure way to know if the subscriber is 18+ or not, but most of the times is either "also" or "only" because of the reason you mentioned.
Just check what are the rules for the "cancel anytime", because sometimes companies makes canceling harder than subscribing, but I don't think Ubisoft is THAT evil.

To check if your card works. Probably to be sure when the subscription fee goes off that you've entered a legit card. Sometimes companies pay that 1 Euro back into your account. PayPal and Microsoft does that when you add a new card.
Edit: PayPal pays you back, while MS does not.

They don't take the 1euro. I tried to subscribe, but nothing happened. I don't even know how to access it, but they did not took 1eur.

You have to pay 1 euro to confirm that your card is valid. You'll get it back soon

I activated Uplay+ and found that there is nothing for me to play.

PSA: to cancel you need to wait at least 30 minutes after you sub
edit: I guess I already own everything I wanted to play in Uplay, other than Farcry 5 and Origins. Meanwhile the M$ Gamepass has a lot more I am interested in.
It's is interesting because different pages from the sign in process list different prices: either 1e or 0e, 14.99e/month once the offer expires, or 1e a month (explaining it's 12e a year). I think this last one is plain wrong. If that is the case, it is a really good deal, but 15e a month for ubisoft games it's quite a stretch, in my opinion.

I am still waiting for the page to let me cancel, but as I understand, it works like Amazon Prime, or the Origin Vault... you cancel, to avoid getting charged later, and that's it. I will report once I finally cancel my sub.

I just canceled. They told me the period will end on the 30th. So it's confirmed you just need to wait 30 minutes after subbing. cheers

i confirm they try to take 1 euro, but my cc block them before because i have for block these sort of things.

The 1€ is insta-refunded, it's a way to check if your payment system is real
Comment has been collapsed.
yes i understand, but it is needed , is a requirement,so is true that they make the 1 euro transaction also if refund it.
edit:
Btw in my case for my personal experience is NOT insta-refunded because is already 2 days i order the subscription for "Free" but until now they not give me back my 1 euro (and i doubt they will do before the next 15 days).

PayPal listed it as £1 but never even took the payment in order to refund it. I know this for a fact as there's currently no money in my account.

I have 1e retained on my account, and they even asked for the 2fa SMS, like if I was buying something. I guess they will refund it later, and it is just to prove the card you gave them is in good shape

YEAP , the took 1 Euro from my card even after all the billing tells you it's 0 euro
Even my order e-mail address says it's 0 EUR/month but my card deducted 1 euro.

I used paypal and it told me $1 CAD + $2.4 tax(WTF?!) = $3.4 on the paypal page, clicked pay and the next page ubi told me confirmed "$3.4 $0.00" No activity was shown when I checked paypal itself and nothing was deducted( I used balance). Either it hasn't shown up yet - which is likely - or it didn't deduct.

If you have and use a Uplay account, note that a lot of the + games have easy to complete challenges good for XP and U units. Play a few rounds of Uno and Monopoly then convert the U into a store discount or new gear for the games you already own.

I have the same problem with Monopoly. Apparently it's been around for a while. I'm hoping they get drowned in support tickets today and do something about it.

One of Ubisoft's many Monopoly threads got the game working for me :D. Points here I come!

That worked for me too. Thanks! This is good because my exchange with Ubisoft support was going nowhere.
First response - Cut/Paste: update your drivers
Second response - Cut/Paste: Disable all your startups one at a time to see if they're the problem
Third response - Your graphics card (which is currently running Division 2) is rated slightly lower that Monopoly's minimum spec card in one category so it's your fault
I get that Ubisoft wants to compete with Steam any way they can but is "crappiest customer service" really the best choice?

I have like 700 points just from playing some of their games

for anyone wondering, they don't actually take the 1€, it is free, just don't forget to cancel by the end of the month if you dont want to be charged...well, its 1€ a month for now, so probably not the worst way to spend that ammount

Gracias, igual bastante fiaca hacer todo eso para probar el Child of light.

The 1$/€ if for verification purpose, it will be refunded later and this for a new payment method (CC / Paypal) you are using for the first time with that shop (Uplay)
If you have a payment method (CC / Paypal) that you already used before to buy a game or dlc from Uplay then they won't need to deduct that 1$/€
