I have had no problems with the European server I was using. Servers are now shown as "full" (although, that may have been in there before), there is now around 15 servers, and I believe more are being added. They should be re-enabling the disabled features soon.
Overall, the game is amazing. Disregarding all the server problems, the gameplay is brilliant. The game looks amazing too.
Hopefully by "a game from our portfolio" means any game. Then it would be just like buying a £35 game, and getting another free.
I'd recommend it. I have had no problems, and I doubt you will either.
Let me know if you get it, and we can start a region together, or you can join my existing one.
And before people bombard me with hate, I do not like the DRM, or the way the release of the game has gone. Neither do I support EA's business practises.
Edit: You won't be able to access all of the US servers, since some are full. Though, you shouldn't have problems joining a European server.

Something Special for Your Trouble
The good news is that SimCity is a solid hit in all major markets. The consensus among critics and players is that this is fundamentally a great game. But this SimCity is made to be played online, and if you can’t get a stable connection, you’re NOT having a good experience. So we’re not going to rest until we’ve fixed the remaining server issues.
And to get us back in your good graces, we’re going to offer you a free PC download game from the EA portfolio. On March 18, SimCity players who have activated their game will receive an email telling them how to redeem their free game.
I know that’s a little contrived – kind of like buying a present for a friend after you did something crummy. But we feel bad about what happened. We’re hoping you won’t stay mad and that we’ll be friends again when SimCity is running at 100 percent.
SimCity is a GREAT game and the people who made it are incredibly proud. Hang in there – we’ll be providing more updates throughout the weekend.

My guess is that they'll give Medal of Honor: Warfighter and other crappy games.

No raging, but if you hated EA and Origin that much you wouldn't be considering buying the game, or supporting/encouraging their rotten DRM system...
Just sayin'

Prefaces - I hate EA and Origin just as much as the next guy, and if I had pre-ordered a game then was told I can't play it for several days, I'd be foaming at the mouth.
Now, I'm extremely interested in this game. The game itself is looking really polished, and anyone who buys (or bought) the game prior to March 18th gets a game for free from Origin (I'm fuzzy on the details). I guess my question is, are the servers working now? I heard that they've upped the number by quite a bit over the last few days. I want to play the game, but I'm not going to buy it if it's unplayable.
Please save the rage responses for the other simcity threads, kthx :P
