First and foremost the problem... I need a new headset or a good pair of headphones/lapel mic that is relatively cheap (sub 50$ range), so if anyone has any suggestions I would LOVE to hear it.

I'm an MMOer and pretty much need communication for group events so the mic is necessary.

I am also a fan of that sick rich bass that makes eardrums bleed.

It would be crazy nice if the headphones/headset had at least 5.1 emulated surround. Obviously 7.1 surround would be preferred.

Here's a real kicker, I'd actually prefer the headphones/headset NOT be wireless, too much of a hassle...

ALSO, must be Over the Ear!

Am I missing any other vital details that you guys need to know? Thanks in advanced!

In my experience a natural 5.1 surround depending on the game will sometimes sound cleaner than an emulated surround. Not sure if it has to do with the drivers or the way the headphones was attempting to emulate it, either way though I've been running with emulated surround for a while now with no complaint. Just thought I'd mention that I'd at least prefer some kind of surround, it's nice to hear people sneak up on you in PvP situations.

EDIT: And for the record, I'm not trying to get into a pissing match or anything with you, I understand what you're saying I'm just not very good at explaining my side of the argument if it shall be called one. That article does a pretty good job of explaining it though.

I'm doing alright with a Gamecom 380. Cost me 30€, above the 20€ I initially planned, but definitely worth the extra cost on comfort and durability.
You should define "relatively cheap" though.

Thanks, defined above as "sub 50$ range" and those headphones look good. Only thing they're missing is surround but I can always use Razer Surround to force emulate it if necessary.. I should also mention above about over the ear, obviously your headset covers it, but it's definitely a requirement...

I myself use an E-Blue Cobra Gaming headset. They're cheap ($20-$30), good sound and good mic, but if you have big ears, may be a bit uncomfortable. Will also add, expect it to break if you drop it.
