If multiple linked giveaways are a train, what is a single giveaway in a train? Please vote in the poll below. Sadly Dan Quayle is busy picking potatoes, so is absent from this poll. He promised me he'll be back for my next poll.

There are no giveaways in this thread, let alone a train, but I do currently have 9 whitelist giveaways (Update: Finished) that you may be able to join if you make my whitelist. Below are the simplified requirements. Please comment if you'd like to join and meet the criteria. Note that I won't necessarily reply (especially if your comment is only about trains), so wouldn't hurt to check access to these giveaways later on...

  • Public Steam profile
  • Registered more than a month ago
  • Sent more games than won (or has Real CV Sent higher than Real CV Won)
  • Created giveaways in the last month, at least some of which are public and were created prior to this thread
  • Untainted trade ratio (but if the number of negatives is low I will have a look). If you never trade it's fine too :-)
  • Activated all games won; has no multiple wins of the same game. In other words, passes the Steamgifts tools tests (this is the reason why I require a Public profile)

I have many users in my whitelist who don't meet all of the above criteria, but this is normally because I liked what they wrote in the forum and found it to be exceptionally interesting, insightful or helpful. This isn't likely to happen in a whitelist recruit thread, so better stick with the criteria above.

Thank you and good luck!

Some tough whitelist criteria there, but I might just sneak in ;)

Voted wagon, while I prefer the GAs to be stations, but then calling the group of giveaways a train doesn't make sense

The criteria may seem like I'm setting the bar low, but if you check entries of public giveaways you'd be amazed how few users actually make it. Other, more exotic negative criteria turns out to be easier to match (dozens of Mute Leeches managed to match the criteria I wrote for blacklisting in this 1 hour giveaway).

Oh I didn't mean any sarcasm. I totally agree, just having a clean profile gets rid of quite a few! Have to admit, I started looking thoroughly into winners and I was surprised by the number of tickets! I always found that when I increased the level of giveaways, the high chance to win attracts the auto entry bots. But then the lower level typically involves more rule breakers

Going to go with a car on this one because that what I do. Also, am I good enough for you sir? Sits quietly still trying to be proper

That's what you do as in you're in the railway industry? ;-)

And yes, definitely good enough. Welcome! :-)

Nope, don't work in the railway industry. I just call it a car because I wanted to.

I should take potatoes, but those I entered are often called car or station.
And I'm glad to be anyone's whitelist.

I don't believe i'm white enough to be in your whitelist. I'm more of a brown color, to say the least D: ;D

Some call it the blue heart list, but regardless of color, you are on mine now ;-)

I say carriage or coach (Britishisms?) but since the London Underground event I like thinking of them as stations as well. I hope I meet your criteria :)

And I think it's Mordor who's responsible for your higher real CV value. Nice giveaway! :-)

I call them Adventures and they have locations, but on the other hand iยดm just an uneducated frog...my only experience with trains are flat friends.

Well, I think that I have all the requirements. And about your question, I think that is a Wagon, isn't?

It's Wagon if you're a Brit (or judging by the poll - almost any non-American).

Car / carriage for me, I've never actually heard of train wagon. (Not an American too. I'm an outlier!) Never too late to learn something new :P

"Wagon" is a British term. :) You probably heard the international ones then since that is normally carriage, or car for short.

I also think it's a wagon :D

I'd like to be in your whitelist, I think I meet all requirements :)

Well, I think I meet the qualifications you gave, and I certainly like seeing that blue heart!

As to your question, I suppose I would call it a "railway car", but I'm not going all-in on that just yet. Most of the suggestions listed above seem pretty valid to me...

Whitelisted, though I doubt you're going to find anything interesting in my giveaways when you already own half of Steam ;-)

I already saw that I owned all of the games you were giving away, but I still like to feel like I belong to a group. That blue heart is always a special little surprise.

I had already added you to my own whitelist, so I hope that something interesting finds its way to you in the next few weeks...

I like trains
Edit: I know, 2011 called and wants it's meme back but I thought before returning it...
I voted Car but do like the stations idea because you can make giveaway trains branching unlike real trains.

Not sure what the answer is/was but i think it should be called a wagon, as it could be used for anything, not necessarily passengers for example like a car :D:D (gogo logic after X amount of rum shots :P) Yup... im sticking to X instead of disclosing the amount for shame reasons ^^

Let's see, there's the coach car, the sleeper car, the tank car, the coal car, the caboose, the engine... I guess I'd answer "Car".

each giveaway is a station, the train is taking you from one giveaway to another.

Permalink

Or you board at the station (forum post) and as you move down the train each new car/wagon/carriage is new giveaway. This method is also quite common especially if you want a first class section (wishlist/contributor sectionl

really, the only reason to move through an entire train is if the train is full and you can't find an empty seat.
you would look rather stupid walking through the train looking for first class..

But those trains don't have potential free goodies in every carriage and seeing as that's how people set up their trains its obviously not that strange a concept.

Well, living in Europe I learnt British English (or English, if you are getting behind the idea of calling the overseas one simply American), so wagon or carriage for me. I fancy carriage.

The station is the thread/post you find the link to the first giveaway in, this is where the train departs from. Sometimes the station is even a giveaway itself. Wagon, carriage and car are then all appropriate terms for the individual giveaways.
