If multiple linked giveaways are a train, what is a single giveaway in a train? Please vote in the poll below. Sadly Dan Quayle is busy picking potatoes, so is absent from this poll. He promised me he'll be back for my next poll.

There are no giveaways in this thread, let alone a train, but I do currently have 9 whitelist giveaways (Update: Finished) that you may be able to join if you make my whitelist. Below are the simplified requirements. Please comment if you'd like to join and meet the criteria. Note that I won't necessarily reply (especially if your comment is only about trains), so wouldn't hurt to check access to these giveaways later on...

  • Public Steam profile
  • Registered more than a month ago
  • Sent more games than won (or has Real CV Sent higher than Real CV Won)
  • Created giveaways in the last month, at least some of which are public and were created prior to this thread
  • Untainted trade ratio (but if the number of negatives is low I will have a look). If you never trade it's fine too :-)
  • Activated all games won; has no multiple wins of the same game. In other words, passes the Steamgifts tools tests (this is the reason why I require a Public profile)

I have many users in my whitelist who don't meet all of the above criteria, but this is normally because I liked what they wrote in the forum and found it to be exceptionally interesting, insightful or helpful. This isn't likely to happen in a whitelist recruit thread, so better stick with the criteria above.

Thank you and good luck!

I added you to my whitelist as well, but it's hardly special at the moment. Still I wanted to show my appreciation for you adding me to yours.

I say car because I'm American. Apparently it's "bogie" in Indian English.

All of the above, it's up to the conductor to decide! I've had train cars and also train stations, depending on my mood/what I type in the first giveaway

Car! Railway car to be exact. Carriage reminds me of westerns (big fan) ^^ Would be honored to be on your bluehearts list :)

I feel the same about Carriages and westerns, but according to Eikipedia it is actually one of the names in use. These are the names I found doing some "research" for this poll:

  • Railroad car
  • Railway wagon
  • Railway carriage
  • Passenger car

If any native English speaker can explain the nuances between these names, it would be nice.

Also, welcome to my whitelist. I'm glad to see I'm already on yours :-)

Car is American, Wagon is British, both are generic terms.

Passenger car is American, only holds passengers.
Carriage is British, only holds passengers.
I believe 'coach' can be used in both countries to refer to such, as well.

If it ain't an engine and it ain't a caboose, it's a car!

i would say: the gas represent the passangers in the train and i´m the ticket collector^^

That went above my head. Or maybe it's just spinning looking at your won/sent ratio... welcome!

^^ thank you, but to be fair: due to a bug, the actualy shown value is wrong. the armageddon bundle got reduced and the gas for deponia are now shown worth as maybe 100 euro instead of 20... dont know, how much i actualy rly have, but i´m sure, its less than 2k (but i should reach it soon xD)

I like questions like these, they inspire me to look up stuff on wikipedia :)

I've always called them cars being from murica.

I don't meet the first requirement for your whitelist, but It's close and I meet all the others :)

Yes, I already checked Wikipedia before opening this thread. See this post for more findings.

You meet both ratio requirements when only one is needed, so I'll make an exception for that missing week. Welcome to my whitelist! :-)

Sometimes I make a train, where each giveaway is a wagon / car (aren't those the same thing?), but sometimes I make each giveaway as stations that the train passes through.

Too bad Dan Quayle wasn't here to help you solve this conundrum... what option did you vote?

Permalink

I voted for wagon 'cause that's usually how I make them.

I use to refer to each GA as a station, while train is just moving between them ;) This way we can have as long as we wish trains - while it would be hard to imagine a train with 100+ wagons for example ;)

100+ giveaways in a single train? Wow. Whoever wins must feel like they worked hard for these giveaways ;-) not to mention what it takes to create such a train...
