I had a thread before asking about cheap ones but someone wised me up so I decided to suffer with my super shitty keyboard for 2 or so more weeks to invest in a long term better keyboard.

I am new to the mechanical keyboard scene I know about the different switches and I know that the blue cherry switch is the one most suited for me cause of the required pressing weight (more but over it makes a clicky noise). So what is the best keyboard to get in terms of practicalness plus maybe having a extra feature or two, maybe just some really cool cosmetics.

Note: if keyboard is cool because of cosmetics it would have to match my current theme of black plus glowy and since my mouse glows red and my computer glows blue I would want it to glow purple

Mechanical keyboard? Not sure what that is.

I'm using the Razer Lycosa though, and it's quite blue!

Ducky, Filco, Das, and many other keyboard specialists make them. The Ducky Shine I/II is quite popular.

Razer has the BlackWidow and BlackWidow Ultimate

Cooler Master has a few of their keyboards, Quickfire/Trigger.

Rosewill has the RK9000

There are many more.

There is no best without having a budget in place. Keep in mind Blue is more for typing than gaming. It isn't that you can't game with it, you just have to work a little harder on the button pushes. Brown tends to sit in between the Red and Blue, which might be something to look into if you find Blue too hard to use. You could go to a store and push on the keys. I use Red, but that can be hard for some people, too. The keys are very light.

Keyboards are pretty important, you should look over your many options and choose one for yourself. You have to be happy with your choice.

Blue really fits my style of play the best I think, I also type ALOT. Red and brown don't have clicky which is why i don't like them as much.

Below are a few mechanical keyboards using Cherry MX Blues which might take your fancy. As AllRoCol said though, it all depends on budget and personal preference really.

DAS Model S Professional
Adesso MKB-135B
Rosewill RK 9000
CM Storm Quickfire Rapid
Ducky Shine II
Razer Blackwidow Ultimate

My Razer Blackwidow is a blue switch mechanical one if i recall correctly. I really like it for gaming and for typing (although I'm not really the fastest to type, I still think the feeling and repsonse is nice). If you ask any keyboard-afficionado then you will clearly get answers that tell you about the worthlessness of any gaming product used for typing.

Flashiness: Yeah the keyboard is flashy in the ultimate edition. The keys are backlit and I think it is green for the 2013 edition and blue for the one before that. There is a super nice razer logo that you can set to glow constantly, pulse or just turn it off. Other than that the keyboard is very sturdy and well manufactured. I'm using it for the better part of a year now and it still feels brand new (and I've done a lot of gaming/typing).

That's pretty much all I can tell you. If you manage to find a good deal it is certainly worth getting. (I paid retail and still think I made a good purchase)

I don't do razer they are just one of those companies I avoid with a passion. However I am the kind of guy who doesn't use real can's and can't tell the difference between real can's and just really nice head set. So I don't care what aficionado's say

I really don't understand all the Razer hate. It's coming across to me as hipster angst currently. Hating something because it's popular and hyped.

No there are multiple brands and things I dont like. Such as notch. More or less I really hate sell-outs (which makes me seem like a hipster but I swear Im not). I love brands like thermal take and steel series though.

I think the hate revolves around the fact that even though Razer products are *good (only their top of the line stuff. Their cheap is stuff is, well, cheap), they are also horribly expensive.

It seems that a Ducky keyboard is right up your alley. They have good quality and from what I know, the board is super glowy.
But that's not my personal opinion and I've only used a non glowy brown switch keyboard so... pick your poison.

I use their stuff, but I find it is very fragile, which is why I am moving away from it, outside of the onza.

I can totally relate. Razer is pretty pricey and most stuff breaks a lot. I had a razer mouse and I will never buy a mouse again. But the Blackwidow got pretty nice reviews so I went with it. And I actually really like it :)

As far as mice go, I really like the steelseries xai and sensei types. And I just wanted something more pure, so I got the Zowie AM which really hasn't let me down a single second so far.

Nowadays I really try to buy as much as I can from amazon warehousedeals or other refurbishers, because it it dirt cheap and the quality is still great. So I just paid 40 Euros for my mouse which is a good deal compared to the 60 I would have had to pay if I had gotten it at the suggested retail price.

I am now using one of the R.A.T. series of mice and I must say I have never had a more comfortable mouse. It is kind of awkward at first just cause its different and a lot lighter than it looks but once you get use to it it feels just awkward to use anything but it.

I've heard about them being comfy. But looking at it ...I just can't get the concept in my head. Maybe I just need to jump into the cold water and try it out for a week or two. My brother in law owns one and I might just be able to borrow it for a field test.

As I have said in your other thread, Filco is top dog as far as I'm concerned, but they make plain keyboards without extra keys or lights. I have used Ducky and they are good too.

Surprised that people are giving you flack for picking blue, many, many people prefer that switch even though they are gamers.

No surprise I mean even when I was looking/learning about the different switches everywhere said blue was the one least suited for gaming to me it really is as eXcest said and a pick your poison situation more than anything.
