Get DA:O if you want a party-based RPG with a decent story, decisions to make, etc. Basically a typical Bioware RPG with a setting reminiscent of Lord of the Rings, but with more magic. Get Spore if you want a series of what basically amounts to minigames centered around guiding the evolution of a species into eventually exploring the galaxy. It's pretty fun too, but the casual, cutesy Sims influence corrupted it into something far shallower and less fun than the concept could have been.

got my free dragon age origins!! but it made me realize why people hate origin so badly. took forever to download, then sat there at "installing" for even longer. on steam, i could have downloaded something larger in 1/4th the time haha. I'm sure there are plenty of other reasons people dislike origin, that's just my first experience lol

It depends a lot for both Steam and Origin.
For me, Origin maxes out my internet connection while Steam doesn't get anywhere close to doing so. Yet I've seen people get better speed than me on Steam.
I've tried a few different Steam servers, but they rarely go over half of my connection speed. Overall, it really just seems like everyone has a different experience when using both services.
Now with that said, both Origin and Steam offer good speed, I think they're both solid in that department.

So how I subscribe to the newsletter? I don't live in US or Canada but hell, maybe changing country will let me get something.

I somehow got to US Origin page, noticed that there's a 50% discount on any pre-order. So I switched to my region to probably buy something and turns out there's no such thing as Origin 1 year Anniversary Sale or free game giveaways here. Just 15 cheap EA titles on sale for some reason and most of them are over 2 years old, newer games are indies. What the hell, EA?
