I was just watching the new Star Wars trailer and hoping the movie will be awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGbxmsDFVnE
I liked the weird rolly ball droid. It's better than Jar jar.

Here is a GA for something from the Star Wars past:

Will Disney save the Star Wars franchise?

View Results
YES! Disney is our lord and savior!
YES. JJ Abrams makes cool movies with awesome lens flare EVERYWHERE!
YES. They couldn't make it any worse than Lucas did.
NO! Disney is EVIL!!!
NO. Star Wars is already dead to me.
NO. Star Wars is fer real guyz! I'm a Jedi! The movies are history documentaries.

Just wait until they reveal that Jar Jar was a Sith all this time.

Im not optimistic about the movie, quite the oposite, I think it'll crash and burn (someone who made a star trek movie making a Star Wars movie? That's blasphemy!)
As a fan of the franchise I'll of course go watch it on the cinema and buy a copy of it once it gets released on DVD as well, but I still think it'll be as bad as worse than attack of the clones

The question is, will he fuck it up more than Lucas did with 1-2-3? Or less? Can we make a poll?

I mean, i don't have high hopes for the new one, I think people are over hyped and will be disappointed. I also don't really understand why everyone hated the lucas ones, episode one was my favorite star wars movie.

i guess when you compare them to the original trilogy, they seem lacking. Not really terrible but a little disappointing. Episode One is the best of the new ones i think. Pod racing was kinda cool.

The classic Movies, Star Wars in 1977, The Empire Strikes Back in 1980 and Return of the Jedi in 1983 - that's where everything should have been frozen and stopped. Everything past that point was just raping the franchise for its money imho.

Warcraft does look awesome and I cannot wait for it, but Legendary does have Krampus coming out soon and I cannot wait to see that!

haha, first i was like 'why is he hyped for a cheesy family movie' but that seems like a good one too. :D

Reminds me of a similar Dutch movie:

Yeah it has a slow opening, one of the reasons I love that trailer so much I think. It leaves you just wanting to see the movie like right now to find out where they take it.

Saint looks good, Krampus is a great story that not a lot of people in the US know about. They're starting to get educated though haha.

If there is not some actor in blue makeup with red contact lenses in a white uniform I am not interested honestly.

Not sure of how to vote here. Just you do not give an answer in the middle: just black or white. Hardly a movie will change my world, but at the same time I do not think that time spent in the theater will be lost. Basically, that's what I think :)

i'm sure it will be better than the old ones, like it happened to star trek. <3
of course, this is just based on my personal taste since i find ep 1-6 at the same level. they all have stupid stuff and awesome things, and the same applies to star trek. :3

Aw yay, thanks for the GA :) I'm currently playing KOTOR for the first time and really loving it.

As for the movie, I'm super excited and not really worried. I want to try to keep my expectations low but I trust them they'll make it the best it can be.

I'm trying my hardest to go in with low expectations.

But I cannot contain my excitement at the prospects that the original trilogy gets a worthy successor!

Also, I'm probably in the minority on this, but I feel that Episode I is much closer to the original trilogy in tone and feel, and I enjoy it a lot more than II & III... which I have a hard time sitting through without feeling there was so much wasted potential in those films.

Im not a huge fan of star wars, i loved the clone wars animation tho, but since i watched in spanish, im not sure if it finished or whut, and im wondering what happened to Ahsoka (the clones killed her or she die before? T.T ) Also loved the Jedi Knight games, and of course the KOTOR saga!

I can't say I'm super hyped but I think there's some hope. As it is it's impossible to have the same conditions that produced the originals.

Anything is better than Jar Jar.

I'm unsure how well it will do, but I have faith it will be better than EP 1,2 and 3 (combined).

I had bad feelings with the prequels right from day one when I seen Jar Jar. I could not stand him. It just went down hill from there. The only things that I can say I loved from the prequels was the light saber fights. They were far better than any of them in EP 4, 5 and 6 but thats because you were watching Jedi who were properly trained and had been using one since they were little kids.

So far the trailers I have seen of the new movie has given me good feelings. I haven't felt anything negative about them. Now I'm not saying they will be perfect or the best movies ever and my judgment can be a little suspect as I had good feelings about the transformer trailers too and each movie got worse and worse but I kept saying "Maybe this time for sure!!!".

so i found 6 episodes and need to watch 4-->5-->6-->1-->2-->3 yes

hmm ok forget it............ i don't see any true fans here either

4->5->2->3->6 seem to be the current order that fans recommend. The reasoning is that by watching it in this order, 2 & 3 won't spoil 5, and the events of 2 & 3 also ties in more with 6 than 4 & 5.

and what about ep1

No

Alright, so I should probably explain that one a bit more. Episode 1 feels very childish in its tone, so as an adult, it's not very fun to watch (children do seem to enjoy it a lot more though), and there are very few plot important events in this movie, all of which gets summed up quite well in episode 2. Watching episode 3 without having watched episode 2 is not recommended though.

Your order is correct. If you don't know much about it, that release order is the way to go. As for Fnord calling EP1 childish, it's really not that bad. Jar Jar is the worst part of it, but he can be overlooked. There is an amazing Duel in Ep1 and it does add a bit of plot and story, so definitely watch it.

As bad as Jar Jar was, I actually found the pod racing section to be worse. It added very little to the plot, and it just went on and on and on (the game they made based on it was really good though)

Ah, I actually didn't think that part was so bad. It showed Annie was a good pilot, mechanic, and was showing signs of the force at an early age.

I think they could have cut it to about 1/3 of its length and still got that message across. The actual race is just over 10 min, before there's about a 10min "wamup" to it (from the point where the announcer of the race says that the race is about to start, up until Anakin actually manages to start his vehicle (nothing of story importance happens during this period). And before that there is the lengthy bit leading up to the race.

If you watch the fan re-edit of the film, the pod racing scene is about 7 min, and it works a lot better.

Another major bugbear for me with the movie is how they need to explain how everything fit together. We did not need to know the origin story of C3PO & R2D2, and making them already be close to the important characters just made the universe feel small. George Lucas is not the only person writing prequels who have fallen into this trap, the 3 Dune prequels that take place right before the first book fall into exactly the same trap, and it hurts the setting & and the story just as much.

I think I will likely end up thinking about it what I thought about the new Star Trek (1 and 2), that it's a nice reboot and homage to the original. Still, I didn't like Daisy Ridley's character in the trailer, so that's a negative already.

I hope the new movie is going to be great, nonetheless I won't forgive them for putting the whole expanded universe into a trashcan. So yeah - Disney is evil, but hopefully it doesn't mean the new SW gonna suck.
