Idle on TF2 and sell the items you get on the Market. Flawless.

Probably the only thing you can do, they have added dota 2 to the market now as well

how do you get dota 2 items?

you have to complete games to earn points that tally to receiving items

dont bother you will have to idle constantly to get only 2-3 items worth the money in whole year, and market is so much crowded that you sell crates for 0.01 if you have luck to sell them.

Yeah, I can appreciate that some people actually have items worth something... but I don't. Just common crates. Still, 2p off is better than 0p off.

Crates were worthless before the community market.

It's actually closer to 12 hours once a week per account since you have a weekly cap of items you can receive and if they already have TF2 then they have nothing to lose.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's very inaccurate. You need to idle 10-12 hours per week, you get anywhere from 1-12(ish) drops per week. You can get useless stuff such as regular crates, or you can be lucky to get a salvaged crate which you can instasell for $15.
You also get regular weapons which you can scrap, trade said scrap for keys and get an easy $1.50 for each. And this is only during beta, further on they will most likely allow other items to be sold there too.
So far I've made $6-ish by selling naughty crates that I got as drops and keys that I bought with dropped weapons.

I don't think there has been anything from Steam about adding everything once it's out of BETA, that's just hopeful talk that everyone spreads as if it were true. I'm sure more will be added, but I highly doubt everything will.

You are actually right. There has been no official statement, only said they'd probably add more items to the elegibility list. Thanks for pointing it out.

You can idle in texture mode when you are doing something else.

If you are using just one account and you are leaving your computer on just for that purpose when it would otherwise be off saving power, yes. It's not my case though. Also, not everyone thinks: "Well, I've saved $3 off the electricity bill, I can use that money on steam now."

Everything I've purchased this year has been from wallet money I made from the market. So far I have The Walking Dead, Quantum Conundrum, Lone Survivor, 4 pieces of Tropico 4 DLC (one to giveaway) another smaller game to giveaway and I still have a bit left with which I'll probably buy Don't Starve unless something I can't resist come up on sale.

have you tried or are you interested in a PTC? I know one which is quite good. Less time investment and higher payments than average (i've already recieved about 24€). You can earn money not just by visiting and/or suscribing to sites, but also just by using browsers such as yahoo you earn a comission, and if you buy through them you will get a % of the cost back, it's pretty nice...
I know that referrals links aren't allowed her, so if you are interested and you register I'd really appreciate if you used me as referra.
the site is beruby.com and my user name ther is "pinchi" (yes, I wanted to use the same name as here but I misspelled it)
NOTE: i haven't placed any referral link so i don't think i'm commiting any infraction... if i am, tell me and i'll delete it, i just try to help, thanks to this i've been able to buy a few games...

Oh lawdy, why I have been as low as signing up for PTC and survey sites once. It's a humongous waste of time, as you can't earn a lot with it (actually, doing the TF2 idling could earn you a LOT more than what earns you in all the available PTC sites altogether), and then there's the fact that more PTC sites are scammish than the ones that are not. Out of the 20 sites I tried, only 6 paid me. Well, technically, it was 3 since the other 3 needed such a high amount for you to be able to redeem it, that it would have taken about half a year to do so.

Do NOT do any PTC sites, they just aren't worth your time. Go to TremorGames or do the TF2 idling at best.

But to be fair, I did this whole thing more than 2 years ago now, so maybe the waters calmed down there somewhat. In any case, it's only worth it if you can get a lot of referrals, which is shitty.

Start selling on eBay. It's easy to get merchandise without spending any money. You wouldn't believe all the free crap people giveaway in the local newspaper, Craigslist, and even in your town. Take the items, clean them up, fix them if you have to, and then sell them.
