Just a quick poll caz I'm interested.

XBOX 360 Owners PS3 Owners PC Exclusive Gamers

If you have both the XBOX 360 and PS3, choose the poll for whichever you prefer. If you have a Wii U - too bad!

Wouldn't be a forum post without a giveaway.

Both Microsoft and Nintendo dropped the ball - MS for their crappy online activation/reactivation machine with forced bundling of Kinect (really - does anyone use this for anything other than Dance Central) and Nintendo for their lack of 1st party titles this year (seriously 2014 - they hardly had anything last year or this year). Sony by virtue of simply not completely sucking (they are going to limit MP to Plus subscribers) wins.

Microsoft is going to have to now explain why if the developers were the ones to insist on their crazy online registration/activation/reactivation system, which hampers resale of used games, why Sony wasn't also encouraged to follow the same route - I think their hubris ("...potentially upwards of a billion units.") gave them the idea they could dictate the terms and everyone, including customers, would simply accept it - we'll see when the holiday season starts and people open their wallets...

PS4 for me. Used to enjoy PS2 a lot and I remember back in the day it was the definitive winner over the first Xbox. I didn't like very much the way PS3 was hated upon and left kinda behind from the whole picture during the yet current gen consoles, but at least they learned from their mistakes directly. It appears MS basically counted former Xbox owners will follow them blindly with whatever they offer, though honestly they should have noticed the general response over the attempts to make online-only things during the previous years. Kinda happy to see Sony finally not being losers and I honestly enjoyed the crowd shouting their name yesterday. Let's hope they keep it that way and don't come up with anything stupid until console release, lol.

PS4 after a year it comes out. I already own 3 ps3's(one of them broke) and a nice gaming laptop. I think I'll be all set for now for a couple years. Xbox just sucks and the xbone just sucks even more dick.

definitely ps3 and maybe xbox 360. I love to get my consoles ridiculously cheap just because the new one got out. And I don't care about new games when older games give me as much (more?) fun. To be honest I just re-re-re(-re?)finished front mission 2 two days ago, and zettai zetsumei toshi 1 (don't remember the english title) 1 week ago.
The only thing I'm almost sure about is that I won't get a XB0 when the next next generation comes out, since the drm thingy will prevent me from enjoying used games and once the xbox network is closed for older version..well you're fucked.
And the PS non-zone aspect is also a good thing for me

Most likely i wont buy neither of them, but it makes me sad that microsoft ruined good franchises with their crappy system this gen. Was actually planning on buying xbox one for the exclusives, but the 24 hour online check is just plain awfull. Used games or not, i could live without them on xbox since the only thing i look forward to is my favourite franchises, which sadly will come to an end.

Guess i'll focus on spending my money on steam games that are worthwhile buying. Right now only got plans for TES: Online if it ends up being a 1 time buy (no subs) and perhaps dying light, both in 2014 obviously.

Most likely a Xbox One. Exclusive game are more interesting, to my opinion. Don't care about used game, always buy game new and i still have my n64 games.

I said PS4, though I can't say I have been influenced by E3 too much because it was always going to be my choice.

What I am finding quite astounding is the number, based on opinion, comments I've seen etc. of defectors! Microsoft have really screwed themselves on this one - Sony didn't do ANYTHING amazing, but it is what they didn't do that has swayed opinion so much. It's particularly interesting on a forum such as this with a lot of PC gamers to see the public opinion.

Also, Wii U just seems to be a joke. Nintendo need to drop gimmicks and go flat-out first-party-title-tastic for their next console or they're going to lose that massive market share they got (some would argue undeservedly) with the Wii.

If I had lots of moneyz I'd go with the Wii U, then after a while PS4, but no Xbox One.

It's either a ~500€ bugdet PC or PS4 for me. Although, I'm also considering to get PS3 once the price goes down (I missed many great games). Right now I'm not sure what I'll do, but since any of that won't happen during this year I'll have a lot of time to think about it. :)

I will not pick any console, why?

Because I like to control what I put on my system.
I like to be able to upgrade my system.
If something breaks I like to be able to replace the one part thats broken myself without having to buy the whole machine over again or pay crazy repair bill prices and/or needlessly expensive hardware.
I like to be able to add as much space as I want.
I like to be able to not have to connect to the internet if I don't want.
I like to be able to play 10 and 15 year old games on the same system that I play some of the latest games on.

Steam is not perfect, far from it, but its far better then an Xbox or a Playstation or a WII or WII U or any other console out there.

You can do those two with the PS4/PS3.

I like to be able to play 10 and 15 year old games on the same system that I play some of the latest games on.

You can also do that with PS3: You can have PS1,PSP and PS3 titles.

Last I heard they removed backwards compatibility in the PS3 to save on costs. Only the people who bought the PS3 within the first year I think it is, actually have that ability and even then it was hit or miss.
The 40GB, 80GB re-release, 160GB, and the slim version of the PS3 are not backwards compatible with PS2 games because all hardware chips from the former console are omitted and there is no software emulation
And again it goes back to not wanting to have 3 or 4 or 5 consoles sitting around to play older games that I still want to play because the Playstation 4 is not backwards compatible with PS1, PS2 or PS3 games. The CPU changes are the reason.

As to being able to increase the hard drive space, its true that with the PS3 you could go and get what ever hard drive you wanted, Xbox you could not. And as of right now, we don't actually know for sure if PS4 will allow you to plug in any hard drive you want, just like we don't know if Xbox one will either. The Xbox 360 didn't, you had to buy a "special" over priced hard drive for it. I can give the benefit of doubt to the PS4 on that matter, but I will not do the same for xbox.

But, there are still too many things that consoles (in general) do not allow (and in the future will force on people if they buy them), that I can easily do/ignore with a PC.

I will also give PS4 another thumbs up because it does not use any region checking on the discs. Heck even PCs still have "region lock" on them, though it is easy to get around and doesn't actually bother anyone who actually wants games/movies from other regions.

PS2 digital games work on every console. Sony made a very good software emulator, the PS2 Classics emulator.

And yes, PS4 allows you to plug any harddrive you want. We already know that, its been confirmed already.

Neither. I've always been a PC gamer first, so the only reason I would buy either console is for the exclusives and they don't look particularly interesting right now. Maybe a few years down the road I'll get one.

Neither. Literally EVERY PS4 or Xbox One title that I have been vaguely interested in is getting a PC port, Wii U port, Xbox 360 port or PS3 port . . . . except maybe Kingdom Hearts III.
