It's well worth the full price if you're looking for a good hours played / price ratio :)

My favorite and most played games are Civilization series and Heroes of Might & Magic series.
I won Fallen Enchantress couple of months ago also without knowing much about it and started to play just before the Steam sale. And like you i was surprised that the game has merged elements which i'm familiar with from both of my fav series
I have yet to finish the main story, but so far i'm liking it very much, so i'm definitely buying LE later this year.
EDIT: A big plus in that kind of games is community content like mods and maps (civ and homm have plenty), which add to re-playability of the game.
I found that Nexus has few but did you come across any good mods for FE yet?

Hi! I haven't tried any mods yet but I'm tempted to try the Children of Storm at some point (still haven't ran out of content from the base game). Children of Storm is a port from Stormworld mod for the first Fallen Enchantress and it's supposed to be huge, so if you're looking for some mods to try that might be a good start :)

looks really nice :o don't have CIV4 so I tried to google something similar to CIV5 with no luck :/ any chance you'd know if there's a good fantasy mod for CIV5?

Agreed, not as great as the 1990 King's Bounty but still plenty of fun :)

Yeah, Shadowrun Returns is a must pick at some point, I also picked HOMM VI last sale but haven't yet tried it :)

My opinion for best fantasy 4X: Master of Magic (with the insecticide patch). There is a reason why it seems everytime a new fantasy 4X is released threads pop up wondering how it compares to MoM (as Master of Magic is affectionately called) and whether it is a suitable spiritual successor to it.
MoM is a great fantasy game that is quite old (you need DOS or a DOS emulator), butt-ugly, has some balancing issues, has an out-dated combat system, and utilizes cheating AI more so than smart AI (though this problem is alleviated with the aforementioned insecticide patch). However the pros definitely outweigh the cons here with some great strategy, a huge amount of units, races, heroes, items, and spells, a great emphasis on exploration, and a variety of ways to play the game.
Also, I've heard good things about Legendary Heroes in comparison to MoM. I look forward to try it out someday once it goes down in price or I have more money/free-time (stupid Bar Exam).

I believe so and I'm tempted to try it, the bar for picking up a DOS game is just a bit high :p maybe when GOG has a sale for it.

I have not, but it's on my wishlist. I've got high expectations for it :)

I believe it was made by the lead designer of Fallen Enchantress so you should check FE:LE :)

I made a topic about Endless Space while ago, because I wanted to let you guys know about the best recent 4x space game. Space strategy fans have received a lot of love lately with ES, SOASE: Rebellion and Stardrive which is outstanding for a one man project.
However, I've always liked fantasy settings more so I grabbed the new Elemental game FE: Legendary Heroes without knowing much about the series, and it's been the best purchase I made this summer sale.
The strategy elements in Legendary Heroes (LE) are familiar: after choosing a faction you build cities, collect resources, train units and fight against the rival factions until you win (or lose). What makes LE different is the Blend of these familiar strategy elements and a robust set of RPG features. You'll play as a Sovereign who gains levels, new skills and spells, explores the world for hidden quests and monsters, finds new equipment and recruits NPC characters. These NPC characters can be controlled as normal units or you can place them in cities for various buffs.
In addition to the interesting RPG elements, LE has (almost) the same level of unit customization as Stardrive with more focus on tactical combat. It mixes few genres together to a really enjoyable game and I can honestly say it's the best fantasy 4x game I've played in years AND probably the best Stardock game I've ever played.
LE is still a bit rough on the edges and needs some work with AI, UI and content updates but it has the same addictive "one more turn" feeling that my childhood classics Fragile Allegiance and the original King's Bounty had.
What do you guys think about Fallen Enchantress: Legendary Heroes? If you haven't played it, let us know about your favorite fantasy 4x game :)
