I hate TB so if he doesn't like it, i want to buy it. However, if OfficialNerdCubed doesn't like it, then it's probably bad. I'm confused.
Comment has been collapsed.
So you spend your hard earned money on terrible games just to spite TB, a guy who doesn't even know you exist?
You can hate him all you want, but don't buy garbage just because he dislikes it...
Comment has been collapsed.
Dude... I do not get your logic. Buying bad games to spite someone who does not even know you exist is kind of.. yea..
Besides that you are doing gamers a disservice for buying them, as its encouraging game developers to make even more bad games. Just.. stop.
Comment has been collapsed.
Just because TotalBiscuit says its bad it does not mean that it is. Just saying.
Comment has been collapsed.
I never said that, but he just admitted to buying games to spite someone who does not even know he exists. Where is the logic in that? Yes, a good portion of the games TB says is bad, really is bad. The one mentioned in the title thread, Revelations 2012 are good examples lol.
Now if you read what I said before, I obviously do not agree with everything TB says. However, like I said. To buy stuff just to spite someone who does not know of your existence makes NO sense at all.
Comment has been collapsed.
I am certain TotalBiscuit is crying himself to sleep every night over this.
You monster :(
Comment has been collapsed.
Wow... I really like TB reviews, he is pretty honest when he likes and hates hame, everygame he said was good I've played, he is right, so I trust him a lot with reviews, this is pretty good, good thing this mgade a huge impact because that kind of abuse it's pretty sad for the industry of indie devz.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah... That worked out great for War-Z devs...
They didn't have to change the name of their game entirely to get it back onto Steam or anything...
Comment has been collapsed.
They would have had to change the name regardless.
Comment has been collapsed.
That did not have anything to do with the backlash. And yes, I would say that it worked pretty well for them in the end, as Infestation is one of the most played games on steam(which is quite sad)
Comment has been collapsed.
All attention isn't positive. When they get caught doing something like this, it will make people wary of their future products and most likely leaves them with less sales than intended because of a past incident they were incompetent to handle correctly.
Comment has been collapsed.
Hardly. They've illicited a heap of ire and hatred, and I'm sure many people who would otherwise have considered buying the game will no longer be interested.
The fallacy that any publicity is good publicity is an appealing one on the surface, but Gary Glitter's kiddy fiddling conviction and subsequent incarceration did nothing to help shift his music, and even less to catalyse a triumphant glam rock revival. Did Ratners UK benefit from newspaper headlines that their owner had scathingly dismissed the company's entire range as "total crap"? Not as I remember...
Comment has been collapsed.
You know.. I tend to take reviewers with a grain of salt. ( Yes this includes TB's stuff despite the fact that I like what he does. Same with Yahtzee. ) However, they gave him a review copy KNOWING what he does. They also encouraged him to do it and they did not tell him NOT TO make a review for it. ( So he had permission to do it, they did not tell him not to, they did not have an embargo either. )
Some games TB bashes I played anyways and enjoyed ( some I totally agree with him on ) ... and some games he endorses I do not care for. However, I hate.. HATE, all developers and publishers who pull this kind of crap. They might have seen money from me regardless of what reviews their games have.
However when they pull stunts like this that is when I make it a point to never buy their games from then on no matter how good of a game they might make. At best it is extremely dishonest what they are doing and it shows they can not take criticism at all. They do not deserve to be in ANY business where criticism of their work can come up at any point. If they have not learned how to take criticism by now, they probably never will. Stunts like this shows it.
The image I have of them is a spoiled little baby who if they do not get their way they will try to lie and cheat any system they can in order to get back at the person that made them upset all while crying and throwing a major temper-tantrum. Pathetic really.

+1
It sucks that devs still don't learn their lesson after War Z/Infestation incidents

Those metacritic reviews were hilarious. All of the positive reviews, mention the word "bugs" to give the illusion that there's only a few minimal issues that can be fixed in the future with a couple patches. Clearly they were all written by people who made the game. These developers can't sink any lower.
I mean, look at these "positive" metacritic scores. Some are completely delusional, and others are just plain weird.

Long story short, there are better criteria to decide either if you buy a product or not.

He is not reviewing products. Other people =/= you. Not liking something does not mean it should be taken away from others. Also:

If you think that those videos are funny, than they are worth watching, but the information in there is not a real criteria to buy a product.
"<<I just activate games because humblebundle forces me to>>" and "<<there are better criteria to decide either if you buy a product or not.>>"
Do I really need to comment on this one? On humblebundle the prices are incredibly low (most of the time lower than the actual game you want, on discount) and you cannot chose which game(s) you pick - sometimes a whole tier comes in a key.

Last time I checked a similar video I ended up buying Chivalry which I liked while watching videos on youtube, but I just couldn't get into it in my 10h of gameplay.
But if you insist: let's see what is the game I played the most! Ok, WotR. I'll watch his review (or whatever: "WTF is: ...") and I'll tell you how compenent (/true) is that video from my point of view.
PS: click

Ok. it maybe working like this for you. It does not for most people. For every single game i have played over 15 hours i've done some research and decided that "yeah, i will probably enjoy this game". If reviewers, critics etc did not exist how are we supposed to buy things? Because they look nice? If you don't know about counter strike it looks like just another fps with mediocre graphics. But when you learn about the tactics and skills involved with this game things change.
Comment has been collapsed.
And done - to sum it up, that video has nothing to do with the real game - it's just about a guy who doesn't know shit about game mechanics. What I can see there, excepting his mindless tactics and lak of knowledge about basic aspects in the game is that it's a 3rd person medieval game with nice graphics, where you can play archer, infantry or cavalry or you can combine those three with default profiles; teamplay seems to be important and you can execute people. If you watch this video you might think that the game is well suited for you, however there are major factors for everyone in the gender which were not covered in the video and I will sum them up in these four words: "balance" (you have a whole forum about this kind of issues: balance between classes, builds, weapons, squad buffs, parry delay, different important aspects on certain game mods), "bugs" (which now are not that annoying / many), "comunity" (by comunity I mean that you are unable to play the game in certain countries because of the ping) and "exploiters".
TL;DR: that video has not "depth" and it's just bad to buy WotR after watching that video.
Comment has been collapsed.
In case you didn't realise, the video is a first impressions video. When you've played a game for a few hours at most, you obviously don't know any advanced tactics or maybe not even how to play the game properly. You can't expect him to cover stuff that might not even exist at the time he made the video.
I watch TB's videos mostly for the gameplay and I can usually tell if I like the game from the gameplay. After watching the WotR video I knew that the game is not something I'd enjoy playing. His videos aren't meant to be funny either.

It is for me (I realise I break my 'rule' many times though) but I didn't buy an EA game since BF3 and I didn't buy Fez (excluding the bundle but he didnt get a dime from me) because Fish is a dick. If I go to a store in real life and they are very rude, I will simply go elsewhere.
Those were easy to avoid but it isn't always that easy to avoid, look at how many companies use FOXCONN. :/
Comment has been collapsed.
So does that mean you shafted all the developers on that Humble Bundle?
I don't think they had a slider for Phil Fish and another one for the rest of the developers that produced the games you got. Good job!

What are the odds of me taking a picture back then and still having it, haha. Good Job! :x
Sure Fez may have had more devs, they should have been smarter about their PR, Fish ruined it. Deal with it :p

Not sure why the devs want this bad publicity. So the game is crap...big wooping deal. WarZ got slammed by TB and everyone out there for being a big pile of crap. Still has great sales, popularity and demand.
That's one of the problems with many budding businesses - you can't go commercial without putting yourself in a position to be criticized for the quality of your product. If you can't take the heat, you're not ready. Success is not covering up your flaws, it's rising above them. I guess we'll just see how it goes. ^^

I'm pretty sure random instant death for no apparent reason is a fucking serious complaint and is an issue worthy of criticism. The graphics options are also worth mentioning. Who cares if they've been around for twenty years or twenty days? If you don't have the skill to label simple text options correctly in a user-friendly manner, why should we expect competence in the rest of the game?
Comment has been collapsed.
"criticism"
He bitched and moaned because he died. Also, the vast majority of games don't tooltip their graphics options. Why do you think sites like http://www.tweakguides.com/ exist? To criticise a game for that is fucking hilarious. As a side note, all the options in that game have appeared in just about every game since the dawn of man. The one and only nonsense option was "detail mode", which he had ticked anyway.
The game looked like shit to begin with, but the fact that he plays it then bitches about it being bad because he doesn't understand it has got to be the funniest shit ever.
Comment has been collapsed.
He bitched and moaned because he was instantly killed by apparently a major bug in the game multiple times. Did you watch the video at all or did you just wank to your own self-importance and pretend you understood the big words he was saying?
Comment has been collapsed.
Big words huh? Maybe for the dumbshit intended audience, but for someone who doesn't get a nob-on from watching a guy cry about a game because he's bad at it, the words are definitely not "big".
"no idea where i'm going the game doesn't even have a map" shows the guy's a fucktard. He's upset he has to rely on his compass in a survival game? Really? All his complaints are either bitching and moaning, or complete nonsense. Of course, that's exactly what kind of toss you enjoy.
Comment has been collapsed.
Except, you know, he says that's a good thing in a survival game. It's simply that it's one thing that doesn't help to ease the rest of the game's immense issues. GG NO RE.
Comment has been collapsed.
Non. That was French. I MUST BE A FRENCH PERSON BECAUSE I SAID SOMETHING FROM THAT LANGUAGE.
Comment has been collapsed.
No it's not! He should praise every hyped title to not confuse his audience which wants to hear 'buy, goddamit, what are you still doing here?' ;). Negative opinions about bad games might be confusing as well, it could lead to assumptions that there are other bad games or ones with poor elements. People might think. People might doubt. We don't want that.
Comment has been collapsed.
If the game is bad enough, there is likely to be a good deal of overlap between the two.
Comment has been collapsed.
Aparently you didn`t watch the video or you understanding capacity is none existant. He critized bugs like the wall on the begining not beign destryoed preventing him to continue, bugs like the woman he saved diying on reloading, clipping objects, invisible walls, really broken stealth mode, sudden death with no reason, teleporting panthers, bad AI.
Comment has been collapsed.
You underestimate your capabilities, amigo. Your capacity for bitching and moaning about other people bitching and moaning shows that you have the sort of enviable levels of stamina that set you apart as a seasoned marathon runner amongst comparative 10 second wonders...
Kudos.

I'm not a fan of his, only occasionally I watch his videos for something that was recently released and see what the game is like from the start.
You on the other hand are replying to everything with angry tone to it, that it almost seems like you're a dev. But that's unlikely, you're butt bothered about something else.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm just laughing at your constant aggressiveness and need to gibber on about something or other when you barely even paid attention to the video.
Comment has been collapsed.
Honestly, being neutral about TotalBiscuit and his content, and after watching his review on the game, he raises very valid points. Although I will admit that the way he criticizes the game is rather "bitchy", the points he makes are not without evidence. The animations do suck when in combat, there are areas where it's blocked by something that isn't there, and the video did show that he got killed instantaneously by something random even with a moderate amount of health. Accompanied with a lack of direction, it's not hard to see why he's unimpressed about the game, and the same with the majority of the consumers who bought the game.
Comment has been collapsed.
Sadly you are probably wasting your time saying any of this to him and I agree, I am also not a fan of his vids, mainly because he is to much for the most part even if many of the times he is on target, also my ADD will not allow me to finish one of them lmao.
Comment has been collapsed.
I didn't know about this game until now. I didn't know about this review until now.
Now I know about the quality of the game (total crap), and I know about their false copyright claim to silence bad press.
I will not buy anything this dev creates, and will caution my friends to avoid them as well. I will forward this story to them.
I would have given your game a chance by trying it out via whatever free method I could find, but now the point is meaningless. Welcome to the bottom of the pile.

The inevitable shitstorm is already raining down on the heads of these guys.
Good luck selling anything in the future ever again, dirtbags :)
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm afraid they can get away with it by simply changing the company's name. Sure, some people will do the basic research for reviews/other kind of texts 'guys previously known as x, you know, they made y' but others won't. Especially the buyers might not think they have time to do the check up.
Not to add that as people they are rather anonymous dirtbags and people won't remember even company's owner name. For instance, I have no idea what was the name of The War Z guy, right now it's Sergei Whatever to me. People had good laughs about him for quite some time here and there but I didn't pay that much attention to remember it after, especially that I found the jokes redundant very quickly and overdone. Funnily enough, when I was typing the game's title, first I wrote 'World War Z' then I had a moment of doubt and googled it.
Comment has been collapsed.
While that's true to an extent, it only takes one or two people to make the connection and, the internet being the internet, a few forum posts later and it will come back to bite their backsides in a big way. As you proved with our mutual friend Sergei Whatever, as long as search engines exist, it's hard to hide, or erase your past on the internet, especially when your product is being sold to one of the more technologically savvy groups of customers around :)
Comment has been collapsed.
Meh. Happens all the time. The number of green lit games on steam with devs that control the forums, deleting bad reviews and banning people is huge. Even seen steam forum mods doing the same thing. No one cares. So for them to try and reach out to youtube and do the same thing is only logical.

Note to self: Never make a joke about how much of a twat TotalBiscuit is.

Nothing new...2 months ago when i ask devs in community hub of Rise of the Triads 2013 when some fixes will arrive ( since game was and still is amazing optimized i have 6-8 frame per second on i7,16 GB ram and very good GPU on low settings ) they just delete my thread in day of launch game on steam and ofc i dont offended nobody in this thread...But right after my thread was deleted many other same threads just start to pump up so they say " We are small team give us time" After 2 months and big patch this game is still optimization fail.So now i learn never pre-purchase any game for sure from Interceptor Entertainment.

Disclaimer:
Creating this topic I wanted you to consider if you want to pay incompetent devs making what seems to be a shitty game and resolving to shady practices when it turns out some people don't like their game, whether you'd purchase it for yourself or wished to gift it to someone else. Knowing that, here's the actual post:
Seems like Wild Games Studio didn't like the TotalBiscuit's video about their game Day One: Garry's Incident, criticizing the title... so they pulled it off from YouTube claiming copyright infringement. Seriously. Since we can't see the original video for the moment, someone uploaded it to DailyMotion here so you can see for yourself what pissed them off so much.
Which gets even sillier, because devs sent him review code in the first place, according to TB on Twitter.
Here's what the CEO of WGS wrote on the game's Steam forums in topic which was closed by devs like many others, throwing bans for people bringing on the topic (topic later was reopened and at least some of bans withdrawn but they were banning critic people there long before this event):
We protected our copyright because Total Biscuit has no right to make advertising revenues with our license.
Source: http://steamcommunity.com/app/242800/discussions/0/810938810809560203/#p3
So they're telling us what actually, that they didn't realise the guy they sent game to makes his living giving his opinions about the games? I mean... What? Now I see it to be even better than Mosaico's developer here on SteamGifts telling us that they didn't encourage people to vote on Greenlight for their shit by giving free Steam key of the program to anyone who commented on their greenlight page. I'm kinda surprised it's coming not from EA et consortes but some indie devs. In the other hand maybe as indie devs they're just more desperate but even that doesn't mean they have to be that dumb as it certainly isn't going to work in their favor for them in the long run.
Here's a couple of TB's early Twitter messages originally selected by user josephgee on Reddit as some additional reference material: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9
And here's his later video response. Bear in mind, he didn't start the whole public deal about this but just responded to Reddit users who found out about the issue (which wasn't that hard as you can see publicly notice about video with copyright claims instead of the actual video but kudos for them anyway).
... while developers remain awesome, linking to 'fair' review on their Facebook written by someone who is affiliated with them as he's the mod on their games forum).
Ah, that leads to the Metacritic page where until the recent events negative opinions were mysteriously vanishing. However, positive opinions started appearing, often sharing exact the same wording and similar kind of broken Engrish to one of the devs. They even issued a statement earlier this month.
We all know us, gamers so the petition to remove the game from Steam was just a matter of time.
Another interesting review by OfficialNerdCubed.
Gaming media starting to follow up: Indie statik, Gamefront, Kotaku
Edit 2: As the more stuff keeps getting posted, kinda reworked the topic, hope it's more readable now.
