Saying Bose is best is like saying Alienware is best. Even if it's true, there's other equal quality alternatives which cost less. The brand name is what drives up the price. That's not to say that Bose isn't good, but it just seems too obvious to mention.

Lol you can't be serious...Bose is the fast food of audio equipment.
BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment.
Audio-Technica, Shure, Koss, Sennheiser, Grados, all so so much better, a 100 dollar pair from any of these brands will trump any 300 dollar BOSE and Beats(Btw these are bass heavy with horrible treble and mids.)
Don't listen to this guy, get the Shure SRH440, Astro Technica AD700, Sennheiser HD555, Grado SR80, or any other variant in that price range.

I would trust Shure. We use their equipment at work in a lot of high-use lecture halls and never have any problems. Except for the batteries running out when people forget to turn off the equipment.
Check out the reviews on that Shure SRH440. I may need to get a pair.

Thats my next purchase :-). If you have a amp you might wanna go with the Shure SRH840 since they are only a little bit more, pretty sure the 440's do better without an amp though then the 840's. The 840's have better bass and clarity apparently when in use with an amp.
My Audio Technica ES-7s were chewed up by kittens, not gonna bother with repairing right now.

Sennheiser and Koss are my go-to brands. Great quality for reasonable prices, and they have very good lower-end stuff as well. Audio-Technica is supposed to be really good as well but I've never used any of their stuff so I can't judge that.
Also I'm not sure if any of them have headsets, but IMO it's far better to buy a cheap microphone and a good set of headphones than a headset.

^ This guy knows what he's talking about. They do in fact have headsets also.
Sennheiser is the way to go, or Audio-Technica. Two top class brands for an affordable price. No paying excessive premium amounts for mediocre quality. COUGHbeatsCOUGH

I personally prefer Skullcandy headphones, but I haven't really tried any other name-brand headphones until them. Their higher-end stuff can get a little expensive, but you can get a pretty good pair from them for around $30-$60, and all their headphones have a lifetime warranty (at least if you buy directly from them, I'm not sure if the warranty also applies to headphones bought at a store). The pair I got has lasted me at least a year and it still works fine.

I agree they have great sound quality (loud too). I have had mine for almost 3 years, only thing that broke is the part that goes over your head, but that was an easy tape up. Now a few days ago the wiring is cutting out because I bent it too much, Im sure with a little electrical tape it will be back to normal. Bet I can get another few months out of it.

The biggest problem with Skullcandy is that they sell mediocre stuff you can buy elsewhere cheaper. They just rebrand it, throw on a lick of bright colored paint and add 20% (or more, depending on the model) to the price.
It's not necessarily bad quality stuff, but it's not that great and they overprice everything.

And that's a fair enough statement. As I said, I haven't had any experience with any other name-brand headphones and I was just pointing out that I like the ones I have.

As with any luxury product, the most important aspect is that you enjoy using it. As I said, Skullcandy isn´t bad, but there are far better options available if you´re willing to look for them.
And it´s not like some of the more respected brands don´t have problems of their own. Like Sennheiser and their eternally failing wiring (which is somewhat compensated for by their excellent warranty policy, but still).

First of all, thank you guys. Your help is really greatly appreciated.
I prefer to have a full headset instead of a mic + phones. I don't always have a nice surface to leave the mic.
I was checking Amazon and found Koss SB-45 Communication Stereophones for $25. Does anyone have any experience with this model?
There is also a Creative fatal1ty HS-800 for $38. I checked Skullcandy but I saw no headphone with a mic :(
Best regards,

wow, that's pretty lucky. I bought a pair of the fatal1ty ones and what do you know I'm pretty sure I have the same model as you mentioned. I'll give you a good review of it. First off, I got mine for 20 bucks on newegg around this time of year with all the sales going on. I am incredibly happy with my purchase. The mic quality is fantastic, the sound quality is pretty good, but most of all they are very comfortable. I can wear them forever. The padding is like velvet kittens. I'd totally reccomend them. One thing that is annoying is that the cord is SO damn long and I only need like 4 feet of it. My rolly chair has run over the cord probably a thousand times, but the whole thing looks/functions/feels exactly the same as when I first opened it up. VERY durable pair of headphones.

Gaming headphones break just as frequently as normal headphones, a cheap $20 headset I got off Sony managed to outlast the $100 pair of Skullcandies I was given.

If you have the money, I would get Steelseries Siberia v2, I have them and they're awesome.

I recently bought the Logitech H530.
They did cost me around 40€ and I am very satisfied with them. They have a good voice quality and good sound either for listening music and/or to games.
My most important criteria was USB though. Because I dislike Headsets with a normal plug. Why? Because USB are their own SOunddevice and I can set them as device in Voiceprograms like Teamspeak or Steam and I can have seperate Volumecontrol.

I like my Razer Carcharias for the sound+mic. I would use my ATH-m50's but I wouldn't have a good mic.

Hi,
I got tired of having to buy new headphones every other month. This time, I am willing to spend more to get something that will last at least a year.
I am trying to decide which headphone with microphone I will buy. I will probably do it next week.
I would like to know your opinion on brands and models. It cannot be a helmet, since a travel a lot. Noise cancelling is a plus.
Best regards,
Lucky Boy
