Gamer is anyone who plays games doesnt matter if its dark souls or candy crush to separate further categories we also use the term casual or hardcore

well it actually came from me. i told him how on a chatting site when someone asked me what gender i was i said i was a transexual toaster and when i told him that he used it as his name. pretty fun and nice guy though. he named himself pingu with a penguin pic right now. if you want you could add me so i can give you his profile link (dont want to do it in public plus im not sure if its against the rules)
little edit : im completely with speak121 on this one. I just play games for fun and am always nice to others no matter if they are acting stupid (not meaning as an insult but going alone into 5 enemies is just stupid XD) or a newbie or whatever else. I always try to help others and the only way you can get me mad is when you start to insult everyone and everything for some weird made up reasons. you know those call of duty rage kids? yeahh i stay far far away from them

Well i would call myself pretty hardcore. I used to play pc games when i was about 3-4 years old. I knew how to use a pc and nintendo 64 before i could talk XD when i was about 5-6 I knew already more complex things like how to play pokemon (like fire beats water and the most important attacks) and the rules of yu-gi-oh and well from there on I just used to play games pretty much every single day for at least 5-6 hours unless something happened like appointments. I have been only to school (if you dont count the 2 months of work i had) so I always had much free time till now. I also play a lot of hardcore games since most "normal" games are way too easy for me

Depends on how you define "gamer". I play lots of video games. I go to gaming websites such as this one. I follow gaming news. I watch Let's Plays. But calling yourself a gamer seems to imply being part of a community, and to be honest, the gaming community is too toxic for me to want to associate with it..
I guess maybe we could "reclaim" the word as people have done with others, but considering I'd still be in the minority compared to self-proclaimed gamers who are really just racists, homophobes, etc etc... I think I'll just avoid that for now. I am someone who plays and appreciates video games, but not a "gamer".

Yeah sure, I'm a gamer I think. As far as I'm conserned anyone who frecuently plays games as a form of entertaiment is a gamer, it doesn't matter if you play casual or hardcore stuff.
Also thanks for the info about the awesomenauts DLC, I received that mail and just ignored it, I'd have never saw that key if it wasn't for this thread :) My key had an extra character so I kept getting an invalid key message, I had to remove characters one by one and kept trying untill I found which one was the wrong one. Just in case someone else runs into the same problem.
