[New subscriber] How can one not be tempted by these majestic unlocks?
[Maybe subscribe] The early unlocks are just about enough to make me leave my lair and open my wallet. We'll see.
[Non-subscriber, will not buy] I feel that IGN are heading in a wrong direction and I won't accompany them there.

[Complaint] IGN Coupon Claus didn't visit me last month, although I'd been a good kid. Out of revenge, I won't buy this month's bundle.

Wow, out of all the revealed games, I think the only one I might even consider keeping is The Dwarves, and even that I'm not sure about. Definitely the worst set of revealed games for me out of all the monthlies. On the bright side, Hollow Knight+the three games I got from trading the other two early unlocks were enough to be worthwhile on their own, and that's without counting trading any of these (or giving them away~).

I'd like to make a giveaway for Dead Island. As I'm in the UK, anyone know if my EU key be activated worldwide or just in the EU?
(and can it be activated in Germany even though it appears that you can't buy it there?)

The EU key you receive should be ROW (since there are no region restrictions listed on SteamDB), which means that DE can indeed activate it.

Regardless of the HB notification when creating a gift link, the key should be redeemable in DE if the key is ROW (and unless I miss something when I checked the available SubIds, then it should be redeemable in DE if bought from Hungary).

I remember some keys from them in the past being "region locked" but still able to be redeemed in other countries, but I'm not sure. I also have an Asia region key for Dead Island Riptide Complete Edition that I want to trade but I have no idea if it's redeemable outside of Asia. Does anbody know how I can check if there is a redeem lock or not for these two?

And as the person above me said, no key for Biohazard Revelations. I sent a support email to Humble, it was really disappointing to see that there wasn't anything in its place, not even a coupon or something.

If you have game on your account, then you can reveal subscription id using ASF or web activation. After that go to steamdb.info and check restrictions, for example: https://steamdb.info/sub/106628/info/

Oh cool, thanks! I'll never be able to figure out how to do that with ASF, but web activation I can do.

I just tried web activation with Riptide though, and I couldn't see the subscription ID anywhere? It just said I already own the game, nothing else, and the web address didn't change either.

The only thing I don't understand is how I can tell if a key is restricted from being redeemed? In the link you provided, I checked out a few games, and it mentions keys restricted from being sold or gifted/traded in some countries, but in some of these cases the key is still redeemable, and in some cases the redeeming is blocked.

It's described under link "web activation" how to get subscription id - just check following messages in that thread:

Note: use packageid from line_items, which consists of 2 to 6 digits, not packageid from purchase_receipt_info, which consists of 10 digits.

I will take this subscription as example: https://steamdb.info/sub/17081/info/ (tab Information)

  • There are fields AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries and PurchaseRestrictedCountries - key has restrictions on activation.
  • AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries = Yes - this key can be redeemed only in countries listed in PurchaseRestrictedCountries (AllowPurchaseFromRestrictedCountries = No means that key can be redeemed in any country except ones listed in PurchaseRestrictedCountries)
  • There is field onlyallowrunincountries - after activating that key, game can be played only from countries listed in onlyallowrunincountries (opposite field is prohibitrunincountries, which restricts playing in specified countries)
  • no such fields - no restrictions on key activation/playing
  • field AllowCrossRegionTradingAndGifting has effect only on purchases from steam store (steam gifts) - not relevant for keys (at least for now)

Oh hey thanks for all that, I assumed the "web activation" link just went to the Steam web activation page and didn't check it.

Anyway, I appreciate the info. I think the confusing part for me is that I am pretty sure in the past I have given Asia region keys (from a previous Deep Silver bundle) to friends in the US - it redeemed as Asia but gave them the normal full game. And some Capcom games in the past weren't even sold on the Steam store here, but I could redeem Humble keys from a bundle.

It's all so confusing! I just don't want to gift a game to someone or try to trade with someone and have the region locks not work out. Thanks again!

That stuff may be confusing. The most convenient way to know region locks is to determine subscription id, then check it on steamdb.info as I described above. The only bummer here is that you must own game on your account before checking, otherwise key may be activated to your account.
If you unsure, you can determine subscription id by yourself, then post it in public (or message to me).
You can just ask someone to determine subscription id for key instead of you, but in such case you need to 100% trust that person.

Some games have several subscriptions (locked and/or not), so for the same game both locked and not locked keys may exist, like Dead Island Definitive Edition from this bundle (see description in main post).

wow this is probably the worst Monthly ever.. even worse then the second one when they had Payday 2 and the DLC's as the bonus so you were excluded from getting them..

Wow, a Hodge podge of crap, and stuff already bundled.. lol..

I guess if you're a new Steam user it might be decent, but as anyone who's had steam for more than a few months, they likely already owned all the games or weren't interested in them.. major failure by Humble..

I was pretty pissed about it, but giving them all away here and seeing how happy the winners were cheered me up a lot.

Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition is actually the censored Australian version of the game not the ROW version (which is also the DE version). Sniper Elite 1 is uncensored even when it says low violence the bulletcam is included which was the only thing missing from the German version.

I just bought this from GroupBuys not knowing about the region lock. I'm in the UK and this activated as "Saints Row IV Game of the Century Edition (DE)", which is only missing "The Rectifier" DLC.
Not a big deal, but SG doesn't register that I own the Century Edition, so I could still enter GAs for it.

Yeah when DLC is involved that's unfortunately how it is.

We can't reroll when it comes to a region lock issue so I like to try and find out what the region locks are so I can advise GA creators what region lock tags are used when creating the GA again, and sometimes the info isn't accurate.

Just inform the giveaway creator and leave a comment on the giveaway that you agree to deleting / rerolling (due to region restrictions). The creator has to ask for a reroll. You as the winner can't.

If the creator does not ask for a reroll mark as not received after 1 week has passed.
