Skyrim is currently taking up 10gb on my drive without mods. I'm pretty sure 50 mods (assuming they aren't all miniscule changes) could reach 12gb easily.

I`m guess is work like NFS World or Battlefield Heros - on Origin you download a start files to their own manager, where game are updating and dowloading the rest of datas (those 12 gb).
