So, i'm pretty new to comp as some of you know. I was placed in silver 2, and ranked up silver 3 a couple games ago. But something that I noticed after I won my last game, was that everybody on the entire team was either 3 or 4 ranks above me. Why wasn't a matched with other silver 3's? Any explanation is appreciated. Thanks.

It would make sense, but the highest rank on my team was a silver 4.

valve's system ranked has a small amount o logic, 1 thing i noticed playing csgo, if you play vs higher ranks, that means that u can go lvl up in rank in that game if u win

It's the ELO system. It's like a hidden EXP ranking thing.
The higher the chances of winning, the less ELO you get. It's also determined by individual ranking on the scoreboard, kills, deaths, defuses, plants and kill types too, I think.

I'm GN1 and I know what you're talking of.
Basically it'll in the end put teams together that are the same strength. Like this:
GN2 - GN2
Silver 3 - Silver 3
GN1 - GN1
SEM - SEM
GN2 - GN2

There might be different ranks here, but in the end the team strength will be the same.

System aims to make balanced teams with similar ratings, but if it's slow it will gradually widen the band. So searching for rare maps at low player times result in higher variance of skill groups.

That's true. But in return you'll win more ELO when you win and lose less ELO when you lose (if odds are stacked against you)

The ranking system sucks... Somehow i got silver 1, although i get an avg. score of 90 each match, and most of the time i am the top player... Would like to get matched with some bettter players instead of silver 1 all the time :(
