Honestly, Dead or Alive or Soul Caliber. I love the different fighting styles in DoA, and it is extremely fluid. I used to be all up on the Mortal Kombat when it came out because I wanted to BE Sub Zero. But, DoA would take top spot. I also had DoAXBV. I'm not ashamed. I love the ladies.

Hey Punk Are You Tuff Enough?
No, no, I'm kidding. I'd say Street Fighter, specifically my favored character is Sakura. Ryu and Ken feel so stiff and unchanging after so many years, while Sakura brings a new twist on the same moves (like a vertical hurricane kick rather than a perfectly horizontal one).

Street Fighter III: Third Strike.
The depth in the game is unmatched, no matter which new fighter comes out, we always end up back with Third Strike, this game was amazing in the arcades, people got really competitive, though I did most of my gaming with it on the Dreamcast.

Touhou fighting series like Immaterial Missing Power, Scarlet Weather Rhapsody or Touhou 12.3/Hisoutensoku, loved how they incoporated projectile combat very well, and it's pretty competitive and fast paced fun, kinda ironic though my fav character and the one I main is melee oriented :V. Concerning more classic and popular ones, Street Fighter series no doubt, with my fav being III/Third Strike and Super Street Fighter IV. Oh and effin' Marvel VS Capcom series, especially 2, 3 is alright but can't beat the nostalgia factor and I WANNA TAKE YOU FOR A RIDE of 2, nothing like playing this on arcades with tons of friends or with your family/siblings. Soul Calibur would be my very favorite "3D" fighting game, with Tekken coming a close second. Mortal Kombat for guilty gory pleasure and combo spams. Dead Or Alive for those nice racks dayuuuuum. And if you consider Def Jam a fighting game, then yeah the game series was fun as hell with some pretty awesome and brutal special moves and combos, and defnitely fun with a friend.

im much bigger fan of jedi academy, blade of darkness, dark messiah kind of fighting.
no need to learn all the combos, you are easy to use tools... it only depends on how you use them and that takes awhile instead of wasting your time mashing randomly and having zero fun while trying learn to actually get the buttons right.
