How many of you would trade for a more expensive copy of the game if the other person (Offering the game for cheaper) was just offline?
A hardass lamer :D That's kind of cute, isn't it ?
Guess he was afraid his mother will wash his mouth with soap if he uses real cursewords :D
Regarding your poll: Depends on the price difference and how long the first trader is offline. I usually try to give people at least several hours, ideally 2 days to respond after I make an offer but I don't trade that much.

Did the person ninja add you saying they were interested in buying the game or were you actively trying to sell it somewhere? The way this convo played out makes me feel as though it was a ninja add.

I have it displayed and I mentioned it in the discussions for the game, that I was looking for a trade. He asked me, I said 18 keys. He was like let me just check something and I was like okay whatever, then he's like 15 keys and I was like price is 18. He talked a lot. Tried to trick me and I was like if you're so certain that Activision is getting the liscence back when Sony is about to release their massive Spider-man game then you're free to wait.

Ah okay. Was thinking at first that you might have been dealing with a shark, but I no longer think that is the case anymore. This person was probably assuming you didn't know much about trading (or removed games in general) due to your low rep, which is why he was probably so pushy. You most likely dealt with a greedy dumbass who didn't know when to stop /shrug.

I do not even understand the question -.-

For example, if there are two traders - One sells for 12 keys, the other for 13, but the cheaper trader is currently offline... would you wait for the cheaper trader to go online, or buy from the more expensive, currently online trader? Or at least, I think that was the question.

huh... well that was an interestingly huge waste of time ;)

People love to force lowball offers onto you XD Trading can lead to the most unfortunate of times dealing with some crazy peeps that just want to likely try and trade up with it for more keys later. I am sorry you had to experience the bs. But your gibs always made me happy ^ ^ heheheh
Much love brother. Do not lose faith in humanity over a few bad eggs...<3

Well the last person tried to give me two keys for it because it was once 8.99. I was like yeah it doesn't work like that. I pointed out that the last person who got a copy of the game for 12 keys wasn't a collector. He tried to say he was a regular old gamer who just had a shitty laptop and I was like you have 1600 games.

It looks like a win for your you but it's only a feint as a couple of minutes won't make a difference in the whole picture. ;-)

There's a lot about this I don't understand, but what I do understand is that "hardass lamer" is amazing! It's now my second favorite insult!

Why spend so long chatting with an idiot?
In the same time you could have made more deals or had a relaxing dump

Like I realize negotiating tactics, and I'm pretty amused that I managed to keep it up, I wasn't doing anything at the time just surfing the net and I was bored.

When you get older the dump comes when it wants to :D

I don't use or deal with keys but aren't CSGO keys like 2 or 3 bucks each?
Comment has been collapsed.
I know, I wanted 20 keys for it, but I was like that's a bit greedy 18 is the lowest I'll go. He brought up how it's cheaper on g2a, I was like no it's not then he brought up how he could buy the game from amazon and I was like go ahead but you're not getting a steam key from it. He swore up and down you could and I was like if you really could then those copies on amazon would have been sold long ago. Oh well.

I tried to trade one game on steam (an extra from a 4-pack). That was the last game I ever tried to trade. Too much time spent trying to find a someone with a matching game who was willing to trade. I'm mostly a bundle gamer anyhow, so if I think I might one day play something I just buy the bundle. I end up with lots of unplayed games that way, but it's better for my time/frustration level.
I guess more directed to your question - yes, I would pay more for a quick, clean, trade - but if anything involves me trying to check reputations is just not worth trouble for me, and with steam phasing out inventory that means I'd have to do that alot. I'd rather just subscribe to humble monthly or something similar and take what I get in between summer/winter sales unless its someone I would know and trust.
I don't know if you play fantasy football, but I find trading similarly difficult there. Everybody over-values the players they have. It's a well documented cognitive bias called endowment bias, probably based on a survival mechanism.

edit: And I wanted to add - steamgifts is a great outlet for people like me with all these extra keys I'll never use.

I only trade gift copies, and I don't trade games for games. I also rarely trade because as anyone can see by my activity feed if I want a game I'll buy it and then never play it. Agents of Mayhem >_>

That's me too. ;-) I buy so many games that I'll never play. I'm like "That looks cool, that'll be fun..." I looked at the games from the last steam winter sale - I think I played only like 3-4 of the 15-20 that I bought. And the truth is I want to play them all, but I know I'll never get to them. Like, I bought Planet Explorers and Ark both a few months back. I really was interested in them, but haven't started them.... The other day I forced myself to start No Man's Sky and I'm actually quite enjoying it. But I've come to understand that I have to stop reading/learning about games and make time to play them, because there are so many cool ideas out there.

It's not like I dislike agents of mayhem, I was just sort of expecting a saints row game. And it's not. It's fun for what it is, maybe I need to get deeper into the game but my slate is filled with games that I will probably end up putting a few hours into. Fifa, NBA, Vampyr, South Park, Lego, Middle Earth, Life is Strange, Divinity 2 whenever that fully comes out. Like I'm sort of swimming in AAA games till Christmas.

Plot twist: You actually have secret ga for it right now.
Seriously tho, people on trades can make up things that makes you wonder, no matter how many you encountered before.
Also thanks for sharing with forum lurkers. I mean the Spiderman ga <3

Oh yeah, I love those people who think they could get their bargains by trading. I mean isn't it good enough to trade spare keys/gifts for ones you'd like to have? It's so easy to get informed about (grey) market prices and bundle status.
Thanks for the GA! :)

Honestly, there's one thing I hate is being cheated. I was just in a long convo with a guy who wanted to trade for a copy of Spider-man shattered dimensions. I'm fine with it, told him the price 18 keys, and once again I'm aware that I'm on the more expensive end of things, but I have a gift copy and you have the peace of mind you're actually getting the game. He spent 30 minutes trying to convince me that the amazon copies were for steam, they aren't. That he had someone who had a copy of the game and was willing to sell it to him for 12, to which my reply was okay. Like go do that, then he informed me that I needed to sell him the game cause I have competitors to which I replied. Yeah no I do not, you're free to buy it on g2a, you're free to buy it from someone with a humble link. I don't really care. That's literally how the free markets work. Not my job to market it to you. Anyway long story short he called me a hardass lamer.
He tried to convince me that he was doing me a favor. 15 keys for a game I bought for 8.99. 1. I didn't. 2. I pointed out that when I bought this game it was originally to give out on SG, I changed my mind because I wanted to get into the key business or at the very least have keys on hand to trade for games I want. I'm looking at you Kindred Spirits on the Roof. Or to atleast give my friends the keys so they can buy the games that I can't gift them. Either way that's 30 minutes of my life I'm not getting back and I just stole however long it took you to read this giant blurb from you. I win.

Here's a game to make you feel better.
