+1 countered This ain't the point and click like sayyy, Dungeon Siege. It's the "I don't understand games so I'll be a cheapskate and spend very little finding a developer to create a low budget video game for my successful TV series" type of point and click. There's pretty much no gameplay involved with telltale games.

... and? If you're comparing a point and click adventure to pretty much any other genre and say it lacks gameplay, I think you're missing the point of the game entirely.
Edit: Suppose I should clarify that it's been a LONG time since I've played a Telltale game (I can't even remember which one it was), so it might be that there's something seriously wrong with them that I'm not aware of.

Let me rephrase my argument.
It takes a lot more effort to build "real time" gameplay, rather than "puzzle" gameplay. Especially when they charge £20.99, I'd be pissed :S
When everyone hears that there's a Walking Dead video game on the way, they're going to immediately think of real time gameplay with guns and what not. I'm not expressing my disgust in telltale, I'm expressing my disgust in AMC to choose telltale to make a video game adaptation.
Just my opinion at the end of the day, no need to bring out the fangs (in case you were considering ^^)

As someone who actually develops games I'm not sure if I follow exactly.
Obviously real time games require some more effort on the coding side. You need to code AI for the various monsters or whatever in the environment to do whatever they need to do. But a good puzzle game needs a lot more effort on the design side. In a point and click adventure you (should) make sure that the puzzles are doable but not too easy, which items you can collect are obvious but not too obvious, the puzzles somewhat make sense to the world you've created, generally theres a lot more dialogue and storyline to worry about, etc etc etc
You can make a puzzle game with very little effort, but I don't particularly think that's what telltale does. Feel free to elaborate on what you meant if I'm completely off base here.

I completely agree. I'm simply trying to say that no matter how complex a telltale game is (in terms of story, dialogue, puzzles) it will never match a triple A studio in terms of the scale and depth of gameplay (which I believe "The Walking Dead Game" should be made into).
The Walking Dead (I read somewhere) had the highest ratings for any basic cable TV show in the US. If I were trying to successfully transfer the series into an interactive game, I would think bigger than point and click from even the most successful developer in the genre ^^

Considering many of the Telltale games I've bought over the years had more depth than most AAA titles, I'm not sure I understand your point. You might not be a fan of point-and-click adventure hence your disappointment but as someone who grew up on games made by these guys (while they were still working at Lucasarts) I am very interested by the game and I am glad that they're keeping the genre very much alive.

From what I understand of The Walking Dead (I've yet to read or watch it, sadly), it's far more of a character-based story than action and adventure. It's like Game of Thrones. It's the characters that make it, and the zombies/fantasy is just the backdrop to that. It's Obsidian's KotOR II, rather than BioWare's KotOR. That's how the show's been described to me anyway.
Therefore, I actually think a point and click adventure, especially one which has semi-quick time events in it, is actually a perfect start in a game franchise. Things that are more like the early Resident Evils would be good as well, but would take more work to be in the spirit of the show rather than Generic Zombie Shooter #7.

I understand what you mean, the last thing The Walking Dead game should be, is generic. Despite being a zombie themed series it actually does really well. I believe the originality comes from the characters and therefore Telltale games are not such a good choice because:
1.) They're not using realistic graphics...(I think they should be realistic because of the high end cinematic quality of the TV series). People want to feel like they're part of the series.
2.) I think there's a good pace to the TV series, whereas point and click gameplay doesn't really have any pace :S
3.) Unrealistic animations. If you watch gameplay from the game, animations just seem more cartoony and don't have the same emotion I would expect to have seen adopted from the show. (likely one of the reasons the show does so well is drama/emotion)
Pretty long I know, I'll shut up now.

No, no, this is a good discussion, carry on!
The graphics doesn't hold much weight as an argument for me. I can understand why it will persuade some, but I can be dragged into feel like I'm a part of something, whether the graphics look like this or this. Graphics aren't a thing I care about. They're nice when they're good, but some of my favourite games looked like crap even when they came out. If you're talking about the art style, though, I can understand that, but it looked far more realistic than, say, their Monkey Island series.
From the little gameplay I've seen (first 15 minutes or so), the pace actually seems pretty good. Animations I didn't pay all that much attention to, so I won't comment, but I didn't consciously notice any glaring flaws in them.

Blah blah blah I'm an ignorant asshole blah blah blah!
AMC didn't even intervene at all on making this game. They hired another company to do a crappy social game BASED on the show. THIS game shares official canon with the comic and was closely developed (story-wise) with Robert Kirkman, the creator of the comic. And it was Telltale that expressed interest to make a Walking Dead game, not the other way around.

Yes, you are. You claim that AMC had everything to do with choosing Telltale to make the game. I merely said you're ignorant because you made plenty of assumptions concerning the game and it's development. I centered my reply on that and nothing else.
I wasn't even defending the merits of the game, though I personally think it will somewhat good.

Here we go again, I never said you were defending the merits of the game............ anyways, at the end of the day, my argument was centered around my dislike in a Walking Dead video game made by telltale. My "assumptions" had no direct relevance to the argument at hand. You were just looking for something negative to say so just admit it.
I was in a bad mood in case you didn't notice. We're done here, peace :)

This ''+1 and -1'' thing is stupid. It really looks like we are on Reddit.

Yea, I've got nothing against point and click but a point and click zombie game? Um, no.

Doesn't look that great honestly...I hope there's a demo just so I can see if when actually playing it, is it as bad as it looks.

i hope that you can at least control that "aim" with the mouse lol

I played the sam and max series when they were free for me on PS3. I will never touch another tell tale game again, even if it's about one of my favourite movies, (Back to The Future) or my favourite series (The Walking Dead).
No money for half assed low budget games from meeee.

General protip is: if the screenshots don't show anything about the gameplay (that is, how you, player, will experience the game), it's crap.

I'll probably give it a shot down the line. Just not right away.

I agree with this. I personally liked what they have done with Sam & Max and BttF. Point & Click adventure games is a strong point of Telltale, and I hope they'll do a good job on this too.

So, as much of you probably noticed, you can now pre-order this game on Steam.
What do you think about it?
Looks like crap to me. Another fail like Prison Break's game.
Still, I'm gonna try it anyway.
