This message is for people who still don't know about it (so no need to put here this is old news comments). But I still bet there is gonna be a lots of ranting after some people realize its too late and "STUPID STEAM" hulking is gonna start etc. especially for FOIL holders. I could talk about selling strategies, but they are pretty simple because of this one premise when your cards magically disappear.

anyway YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

I'm still surprised that some peeps are selling them at $50+, let alone $1, for normal cards alone. who the hell is that desperate? Or are they just plain business-illiterate? Then i see my little brother price it at $100, and i realize that i have lost faith in his generation.

I'm curious to know if the store listings will disintegrate since they're technically not in your inventory.

The store listings for the Dota 2 invites disappeared when they 'released' the game. All the invites disappeared too.

edit; Actually, if I remember right, they invites were removed from the market and returned to peoples inventories. They were made unmarketable and a few days later disappeared from people inventories.

True but missing I think. Dota 2 gifts didn't disappear all. Some of them were bought from the store so they are still in the owner inventory.

Oooooh, I hadn't thought of that. I have 21 pages of cards, and it's very inconvenient.

This. Listed some useless stuff for $5 so it's not visible in my inventory.

I'm in a pickle. I have reached my 200 items mark. Now, I do not want to give out my social number to Steam (out of fear of them getting hacked or something), but I have lots of cards to sell. I actually have a foil #8 I want to get rid of... Alas...

that is really unfortunate and the price is still slowly going down meanwhile, I'm about to hit 200 items ceiling myself.

I guess this post was before 2014 right? You can sell again now, I was at 200 too, but I sold a few items today. Even thought the Warning doesn't disappear or reset, you can still sell.

Try to trade them for something of similar value with someone who can sell or want to collect them.

Permalink

You could make an alt and send them all to it and whatever money you get there, buy the games as gifts and gift yourself.

Permalink

Wait, 200 is the max items you can have? Because I have around 14 pages of cards/backgrounds/emoticons.
Source, please?

You can't SELL more than 200 items.

Oh, no prob then. If I reach 200 items on the market I'll just gift or cancel some TF2 boxes (selling them for the minimum since Dec. 2012 and still nothing)

If you can still trade, ask a friend to sell them for you. Or at least trade for non-holiday cards.

the trading bot might be helpful here. you'll get a nice selection of game cards to choose from or you could just give the bot your cards for credits to use later.

is the trading bot like the bot that gave out game copies for Dota for awhile? If so, link please!

Permalink

I'm not sure if it's the same bot, but here's the bot's inventory and here's where you offer it a trade. Take note of card prices and price inflation for the last card in stock.

Thanks for the advice. I also had a trade ban from toggling steam guard to troubleshoot something (because I'm dumb), but that had a different, and shorter, time restriction. I'll toss the cards to a friend.

Note the 200 item limit is by calendar year, so there's still an opportunity for those with remaining items.

Anyone who is near or reached the 200 item mark, use a mule account.

If you can't or won't make a mule account, consider trading common cards for foil cards from a trade bot. It's like in D&D when you buy pricey gems and jewelry if your DM enforces currency weight and doesn't allow a unified banking system.

Also get it done before the time is near the end, even with time zones, people would be scrambling to craft as many badges as possible. Market and community is bound to crash.

And whats problem with selling more than 200 items on market?

Permalink

You need to provide information for tax purposes. For Americans, that apparently includes stuff like Social Security Number. Fortunately for me, all they asked was my name and address which is already stored there for my payment.

I wonder, by what time will they dissapeare? I never quite know what time zone Steam uses, and if they delete them at midnight, or maybe at the afternoon?

Go to your inventory and the time of disappearing is stated on the card. It is time of your region.

Yes, new daily deals in my country comes every time in 19:00 and cards expire in 20:00. It is correct.

Gah, I accidentally messed with my Steam Guard settings a couple weeks ago, so I can't trade them yet. And they'll be gone by the time I can do anything with them, so I guess they're just going to waste.

It'll be interesting to watch the prices plummet today as people desperately try and get rid of them before them poof. A few pennies is better than zero! Could probably bust out a badge cheap today!

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

At the same time people should also be trying to take advantage of the cheap price to craft so the site is likely to slow down a lot.

I think I'd craft a badge if I could get all of the globes for under a dime each. I wouldn't mind having the cheap badge and slim chance at some shiny bauble. I figure I'll try later tonight once people start panicking.
