A similar thread to this was created before, and it was calling out a support member. That one didn't get shut down.

The calling out there was what other people were doing in the thread, not the OP. Calling out is making public accusations of wrongdoing against another person, when the correct course of action is to report it to us so we can deal with it, instead of potentially creating a witch-hunt against someone who may not even have done anything, causing unnecessary ire and commotion amongst other users who can't even do anything about the situation except possibly flame and harass the accused. Not to mention it may give them warning enough to conceal the evidence of anything they've done so that even we are unable to do anything about the situation. If you really think there's something wrong with saying something nice about another user, you've horribly misunderstood the entire nature and purpose of the rule.
