depends on where you live - in many cities there is free wifi covering city centres - I know taht in my city a lot of people hunt for pokemon in old town and parks simply because our city provides free wifi in these locations :>
And for PC Emulation - all you need is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vO0Bx-AkhOc

But you still need to enter a password for those free spots or there are other methods? (yeah i am a noob, never even owned a smartphone myself, but that makes it very quiet)
My niece isn't so technical to put in passwords.
We have this internetprovider who supposedly has spots across the country and thus might just need 1 app/password, haven't looked into it yet.
I tried bluestacks one time, but i couldn't figure it out how to use, will definitely give it another go with that link, thanks.

I have prepaid too, depending on how much you play pokemon go, you might need up to 1GB a month. I was using a different provider, but will change it to KPN since it's the cheapest there is in comparison to others + it has a decent connection. It's €7,50 for 31 days, with unlimited data usage. It's worth checking out.

From your comments I'm assuming we're talking about a quite young girl so she will need supervision from some adult while she's playing. If that's the case there's another option you can consider, providing extra safety as well. You can turn the supervisor's phone into a portable wifi spot while they're out and connect your niece's device to it via wifi. That way if the one with her has a mobile data plan they can use that instead of getting her her own. It'll also serve as a safety measure as she can't stray too far or she'll lose the tether :P
However there are some things you need to be careful of while doing that. First of all check if your carrier charges extra for that service, some do, but I'm under the impression most in the EU don't, could be wrong. Also make sure to turn off automatic updates for your niece's phone. Since her phone sees this as a wifi connection and not 3G/4G it doesn't automatically limit usage so unless you manually turn off that option in the settings you're gonna burn through whatever data you have before you know it.

She's 12, but goes to a special school, she doesn't know that well how a normal pc works either (starting a game is about it, installing and such me or my dad does).
Thank you for the tips, i will look into it all once it's gets a little less hot. :p
Atleast there seems to be free way (even if it has to be on bluestack) it will make her happy.

well - worst case scenario you make another account ;) the game is free after all ;) I used it to try the game out (because my phone won't run it - it's too old), it's not like I walked tens of kilometers to get all the progress I may now lose :D:

for you? yeah, but if OP's GF will use it with later on walking tens of km and than loosing that acc, OP might have loooong quiet days hahaah rotfl, but if they will not automate it, I don't see it coming soon, to many work on hands atm they have for that

EDIT: It is realy a lot of fun. I ride my bike daily for 50 km and now i add 10 km riding slowly, just to hatch eggs.

Are you comfortable enough with installing a custom ROM?
Here is the Sony Xperia SP page on Cyanogenmod wiki: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Huashan_Info
Instructions: https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_huashan
The process might involve rooting the device, but you're not required to keep it rooted afterwards.
I just installed a Cyanogenmod ROM on my phone (CM 11, based on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat), although Pokémon GO wasn't exactly my primary reason for doing that (and I can't even download it, the Play Store still says it's incompatible with my device).

Yes you can just download the apk from elsewhere and install it directly. I can't guarantee it'll work in your case but I have done this for several people who haven't been able to install from the play store and its worked fine.

Hey All,
The phone in question is a Sony Xperia SP C5306 which comes with a 4.1 OS but can be updated up to only 4.3!!!
I heard that some folks were able to download a third party .apk which apparently bypasses the google OS scan to ensure its compatible.. can any confirm or deny this? Are these .apk pokemon go files even safe to be downloading?
Thanks for all your help :D
