^ this! (and Diretide)
I haven't played the new C&C myself and I wasn't hyped to get it, so I can't say I care that it's been cancelled.

I'm actually happy that they canceled it, would've ruined the 'C&C' name even further.

Bah. Forgot to search for "generals" since last I heard it was just being called "Command & Conquer" now.

Well you know, EA had to shut it down, because the Alpha version of the game didn't earn as much $$$ as they hoped. But we do not need to worry, as EA announced a NEXT-GEN GOLF.
So basically it will all gonna be ok, as we all are excited about the new graphics in golf and we all gonna purchase this highly anticipated game.
Personally...
I still have few days left on my C&C alpha access and though I agree that it is not the best, nor do I agree with F2P and Pay for additional content, I had fun and liked the game.

i care. at its current state though, i am very glad it got cancelled.
it wasn't in beta yet, it was alpha. and for a whole lot of reasons, it was infuriating. i know it is alpha but it was technically broken, no semblance of any balance, units and sides were boring and they were steering in a wrong direction even in terms of generals (which i honestly never liked that much anyway).
as for the f2p and pay for content - i have no clue whatsoever how they were thinking to make that work. p2w does not work for an rts.

I did care, and even played some of the alpha release. The problem was they focused to much on the multiplayer part of the game, and tried to go F2P. Hopefully they learn from that and just bring out a new Retail game. Sad thing is, that it will be awhile away.
Another thing is the players were killing it themselves with all the comments about how bad it was. Seriously it was only in the closed alpha stage when it was shutdown. Everyone was complaining that it didn't have a campaign (which it was getting), which the alpha didn't yet include.

We do have some hope that a decent new game will not be far away. They have a lot of models already completed from the alpha that they can reuse in a new game with a bit of tweaking. If they stay true to the generals theme that is (I hope they do).

I liked what I played of 4 so far. I've been meaning to go on a C&C spree soon. I think that, if it wasn't marketed as C&C and didn't leave us with so many questions (were the Scrin even mentioned?), it would have actually been liked far more.

Still playing Red Alert 2 Yuri's Revenge...
So I think I would have tried it out, but multiplayer only wont work for me.

If you have RA3, try The Red Alert. Also check out Generals Evolution.

I stopped caring when I heard it was multiplayer only AND online only on top of that.
I used to like campaigns, and I used to like LANs( while playing online multiplayer at a LAN party is feasible, I've always preferred something that can be played on LAN,without having to rely on a web server somewhere in the interwebs that "could" go down or have net problems and ruin the fun ).Frostbite 2 was nice tough

I don't mainly because EA want to milk some old IPs to make money from them, and what i heard about the alpha is that it played well until they started changing everything to a moda style and force the store on you. as we know with EA it would pretty much pay2win.
So no wonder they closed shop cause players that played C&C games would not play something like that.

The best C&C game is Red Alert 2. The most overrated is Generals/Zero Hour. The most underrated is Renegade. The worst is probably C&C 4, but given the fact that I didn't bother with that one, the worst I've played is C&C 3. Red Alert 3 was mediocre, but better than 3. 3 was disgusting. Best soundtrack was the original.

C&C Generals and Red Alert 2 were the pinnacle of the series for me. I'll just keep playing those, for now.

I lost interest the moment they announced it was f2p. F2p games always either have a pay to win system or a lot of advertisements. Otherwise, it is just a project that will not be taken cared of. I really just want a fucking TRUE command and conquer game for once, none of this bullshit experimental crap. Command and Conquer 4 was awful in C&C standards and Red Alert 3 was some trash compared to Red Alert 2. You would think Uprising would be a great improvement, but wait... no online! Brilliant!

I loved the C%C franchise. Even got the original game on cd rom. However f2p games just doesn't interest me at all. I'd rather pay for a game and enjoy it to the fullest, then get a game for free and then have to pay for all sorts of crap. Ruins the flow of the game and usually always ends up as a pay 2 win.
Frostbite sounded nice tbh, and the vids looked nice, but again. F2p. Biggest problem was that it is based on generals. The weakest of all C&C games.

Honestly, yeah, I was pissed about Tiberium being cancelled and I barely knew anything about it. >.<

The only way to you have cash on a strategy game is for skins, anything else for minimal as can look will someway mess the game as will give someone an unfair advantage.
I would gladly buy a C&C Generals game, but really not sure if I would even try a free to play model.

I searched and didn't see another thread about this, but I'm sure a lot of you have heard though that the new Command & Conquer game, the free-to-play one, was cancelled about a week ago and the studio shut down. They claimed it was because of a difference of vision of what C&C meant to us and them and they wanted to make the game for us, which I approve of. Conflicting reports say otherwise, that a now-deleted forum thread from a dev said it was someone above them in EA trying to force microtransactions on the game (and other reports conflict about said, saying it was a user trolling and not a dev at all). Either way, I doubt C&C is forever dead and I still think that the ideas that Victory were going to look at next are still going to be looked at, so I have hope for the future of the franchise still.
But does anyone care about this game? Was anyone in the beta and thought it had promise? Personally, I thought the whole thing was a waste of time. I'd have tried it out, but a multiplayer-only RTS isn't my idea of a good time and the fact it was set in the ridiculous "hurr durr, modern warfare, let's kill Arabs" universe that is Generals pretty much sealed the deal for me. The biggest positive I saw about the game was that it was built on the Frostbite engine. What were your thoughts?
