I'm trying to make a purchase on Indiegala, but if I want to pay with card they request a lot of information. Before I send them the information I want to see if other people have done the same before buying on Indiegala and if their information has been safe.

So fellow SGers purchasers, what do you think?

I make at least one purchase on IG a week it seems and I've never had any issues.

Use paypal as middle man if possible in your country.

I'm using paypal, but few of my friends pay with card and they never experienced any problems. IG is a good trust worthy seller, you don't have anything to worry about :)

I use paypal, but I've never had any issues with key delivery or anything else that would make me suspicious.

That said, sometimes they don't seem to know what they're doing price wise, but that's usually just on their bundle side.

Thanks for all the info! Time to get to buying some bundles!

It's pretty hard to know whether your information is actually safe unless they are publicly exposed as having a breach, or you find your information somewhere that you can trace back to them. If you're really worried about identity theft or having your card info stolen, you should pay for services from your credit card vendor or external companies that can monitor/alert/protect you. Otherwise, just stick with well-regarded vendors and hope for the best.

Here are the bundle sites I definitely consider trustworthy: Humble Bundle, Indie Gala, Groupees, and Bundle Stars. And, of course, PayPal is a trustworthy middleman for any other site you might want to use (and useful for avoiding out-of-country transaction fees with certain vendors). There are other bundle sites that are probably trustworthy, but the four that I listed above are the ones with which I have had the most experience, and have been responsive to any problems that have come up.

You can add DailyIndieGame and I think SuperDuperBundle too. Never had problems with coinplay.io, IndieRoyale, Flying Bundle, or Lazy Guys bundle either, but never really looked into them further.

I have either no or very little experience with most of the sites you listed, but I believe you, since most of them have some time and experience doing bundles by now. I'm just not going to personally vouch for them, since I haven't used them as often as I use the other services. I have had some problems with Indie Royale in the past, and customer service was not as responsive as I would have liked (to be fair, though, Indie Gala's customer service isn't as responsive as I would like, either), but my problems were with keys, not payments. Also, I don't think Indie Royale is operating anymore since Desura declared bankruptcy, so I don't think they have made any new bundles in some time now.

Yeah, true. Come to think of it, I didn't see any update from them for a long time, but there were so many bundles in the past few months it sort of got forgotten.

I've had terrible experiences paying with CC using Indiegala. A couple times they declined my card, other times they told me that "Since you are a new user and the system detected a suspicious behavior, you are not allowed to purchase with Stripe" >_>

Since then, I just have been using Paypal.

I gotta laugh at this since it reminds me of my own experience when IG didn't want my money. I was logged in, tried to buy a bundle, and the page said my email address was invalid. Despite being logged in.

After contacting support, it turned out the problem was that my email address had a plus sign in it, and they wouldn't allow me to make purchases to "prevent abuse", and I didn't want to change my email address or create another account to satisfy their whims.

I guess they're doing really well if they can afford to turn away business :D

lol isn't it frustrating? like i don't know myself ._.

i guess it's for extra security precautions but quite a nuisance when you have to go through IG support just to buy a bundle ... especially if it's one of those "buy before price increase" circumstances

They've probably had to deal with a lot of fraud, so they decided to go full paranoid.

IndieGala would rather turn a way a few if it gets rid of countless numbers of scammers and fraudsters. The books balance in their favor. People overestimate their value in a huge marketplace.

I suppose that might be a valid explanation for Rachel's case, but I don't see how it would apply to mine. I had a valid account with them, and I was logged in when I tried to purchase (and pay with Paypal, not CC).

My money's on laziness; they probably have two incompatible systems for checking what a valid email address is, and didn't want to bother fixing that for me. That has actually happened in several different places already.

As for the marketplace, the supply side is pretty big too, and I can't really say I've missed out due to not buying from IG.

I've always used prepaid CC w/Paypal, never had issues!

No clue on direct CC purchases though.
