How many giveaways do you enter?
My first win was at about 1000 entries or something similar. About the same amount as most other people. It was a public giveaway of Takedown: Red sabre.

I was lucky! :3 It's nearly 2 years ago I joined this site, and the very day after I won my first game! ^^ "Yumsters 2: Around the World" and it had 573 entries! And the day after I won another game ^^ After that it took 5 months for my next win. :)
Oh, and as soon as I won the first game I made some giveaways myself :3

Well, my first win was at my very first day here. I belive it also might be one of the first GAs I entered while I was logged on the site for the first time. Later, when I was learnig about site I bought some games to see how giving works. For short time it was only about leveling up to get into higher level GAs to have bigger chances but I was struck with kindness of this community and I decided to keep my ratio at least at 1:1 level. My wallet doesn't like that idea but we have nice sites with bundles that help ;P
EDIT: Oh and game was Real Boxing. I had hard time trying to play that on keyboard and game had some problems with recognizing my controller so I decided to 'take care of it later'. And even if I will be forced to play on keyboard I'm bound to play that game because, well, Boxing :P

My first win was also my first entry. It was the 25,000 Copies of Faerie Solitaire given away by the developer. It was around 3 years ago, and there weren't as many people on Steam Gifts, so it ended with over 10,000 copies left over and everyone who entered won. I've since won a total of 20 games. With 1,133 entries and 20 wins, I'd say that is pretty good winning ratio. I have since stopped regularly entering in giveaways because I would rather let people with less games win them, and I own way to many unplayed games. I'll admit that I haven't given away a ton on SG, but I prefer to give away games to friends on a case by case basis.

My first win was a private giveaway for Sniper: Ghost Warrior 2, with 89 entries. I've won it after entering a little over 1,000 giveaways (yeah, I used to keep track).
Nowadays, I don't enter that much giveaways, really. I dropped giveaway-entering entirely for a while, until SGv2 came and I realized that I was on a bunch of whitelists with some very, very sweet odds.
Of course, I still only enter a few here and there, only for games I really want and know I'll play (and that my old GPU will be able to actually handle the graphics). I'd rather give.
Speaking of which, I'm planning a giveaway thread in a few days. gasp shh, it's a secret...

I always try to spend all my points at all times. I do it in order - Wishlist first, then I look through the groups tab, then I hit the forums and see what's up here and finally if I have points left over I'll look on the main Giveaways section for anything nice I might have missed.

My first win was dwarfs?!, 20,000+ entries, 10,000 winners, so a 50% chance . . . My first actual win was for guns of Icarus. Really wish more people played that game and I had a slightly better computer to run it easier.I believe my first win was after the 1000 entries mark.

My first win was Half-Life 2. I don't remember how long I had been registered to this site, but it was not just after registering. It had 394 entries (it would seem like this site has become a bit more popular since I first joined. Coincidence? ;) )

Long story short: The first giveaway I won was for Skyrim and there were only 8 other entries.
tl/dr
I joined Steamgifts because a discussion forum I frequent had been doing Secret Santa giveaways among its members, and the process was rather labor intensive for the people doing the organizing. You had to get everyone to send in a list of games they were willing to give away, then get people to tell you what games they would prefer to win, what genres they didn't like, and what their steam ID was, find out what games they already had and so on... then put all of that information into a spreadsheet and use a random number generator to pick winners, then contact one of the people donating the game that was won and tell them who to send their game to... and sometimes contacting the participants during the holidays was 'difficult.'
Then Steamgifts came along and the organizers on our forum figured making a Steam group and doing the Secret Santa event through Steamgifts as group giveaways would be much easier. The odds of winning were pretty good on those giveaways, since only so many people participated, most of us already had the games that were donated, and they usually pooled all donated copies of each game into one giveaway.
I got Mirror's Edge during the same event: 5 copies for 10 entrants = 50/50 shot at winning. And Dust: An Elysian tale, where I was 1 out of 8 entrants. Happy holidays, indeed. : ) (Sadly, under the new rules, the donors probably wouldn't get credit for most of those giveaways, based on their small size, but I suppose it is about the giving.)
The first giveaway I won out of the "general Steamgifts population" was Fez, where I was 1 out of 952.
I was pretty darn lucky after Steamgifts rebooted, this winter, but I suspect it might have been because a lot of people weren't aware the site was back up yet, and I was entering as often as I could.

my first time was long long time ago. it wasnt that good really
and my win ratio isnt that good really, but i dont give up easily, and usually one out of ten is going to say yes but sometimes its even higher than that.

My first win was in my first week here. I won LIMBO, a giveaway with 497 entries, and that particular giveaway was my ~340th entry here. I celebrated that with giving away a few nice games (check my giveaway history), and that got me invited to a giveaway group, where I'm still a member, and most of my wins come from.
I only enter giveaways for wishlisted games. I'm quite often at 300 points, I think I've only run out of points those times when himohillo makes those crazy giveaway trains, often with 20 or so games from my wishlist.
I wish more people only would enter for games they really want/look forward to playing. It feels very nice to give away a game to someone who really enjoys the game, instead of someone who'll never play it.
