563.06 USD
That doesn't feel quite right, even if it's the amount spent in 10 years. Will look into my license activations and stuff and verify it.

So... it turns out I was right! I actually didn't spend that much money! I only spent... 665,66€, aka 725$!!!
First of all, I must gift one more euro and fulfill the prophecy.
Second, wow, how the hell did this happen. 97,58€ (106.28$) of those were gifts to other friends, so maybe that's why it felt like an exaggerated sum... still.

TotalSpend 2024-07-20 10:32:29.977 345.85 USD
I think im on steam for around 7 years, so ~50$ per year.
Actually i wouldnt need to spend a single cent anymore, cuz i own already more games than i can actually play in this and next life :D
Thanks for sharing this link, didnt know about it.
Oh and actually i also gifted for example Baldurs Gate 3 on day 1 to a friend and probably something else so my yearly avg for myself is lower.

Not 10 years, 6 years. The accountdata pages were specifically made available as part of the GDPR requirements that went into effect in 2018.
Before that you had to rely on third-party tools such as Enhanced Steam (now Augmented Steam) to calculate totals while on your Account page, but those could still be a bit off.

Maybe it is actually new or I am just not very informed.
The first time I checked this was about 10 years ago (iirc I heard of it when they splitted the "old" and "total" in 2015, I must have seen some news about it or something), so I guess it is even older than that.

So, it is the latter one ^^' Somehow, I never noticed it despite having checked my licenses a few times before.
Hm, I think I also just noticed why I didn't see that link. If I click on my "money" on the upper right corner it leads me to https://store.steampowered.com/account/store_transactions/
which is the 99 % identical site to: https://store.steampowered.com/account/ just that two links are missing. And to get there I have to specifically click on the already highlighted account details. Still, that is on me for being uninformed -_-

My old spend is $0, but my total spend is $1600
(Joined Steam October 2009)
But I actually find the license activation history much more interesting, as they now have yearly summary, and division between purchased on Steam and activated key.

There's no chance I'm looking at mine. Especially where my wife can see it, lol.

I have an 18 year old Steam account with a decent amount of games, but I am very frugal with what I spend.
Total $63.82
Old $9.49

All that means is you bought more keys outside of the Steam store - saw you bought the recent charity bundle from Fanatical for a start (I buy mostly from Fanatical and Humble only and almost never on Steam)

Yeah, I have always tried to spend as little as possible and most of my games come from old bundles when there was good $1 tiers. I would guess that I probably average around 25 or 35 cents per game. I also used to trade leftover bundle games, but I haven't done that in many years. I have only ever bought one Humble monthly because I always considered those out of my price range and I regret buying the one I did because I still haven't played the game I bought it for (Dark Souls 3). I have lots of games in my wishlist because I am interested in playing them, but some of them are more of a curiosity because I know they aren't that good and I am not willing to spend almost anything on them. There are often games from my wishlist on sale in the major Steam sales for less than $1 and I don't buy them.
Edit: The recent Fanatical NSPCC Charity Bundle cost more than I would normally spend, but I decided to grab it because it has been so long since I saw a decent bundle and it had a good selection. It had 6 games from my wishlist that I kept and then a decent amount of high value games I can give away. One of the reasons I wanted it was because I mostly give away leftover bundle games here and I ran out of games to give a long time ago. I stopped creating giveaways and had been waiting for something to come along where it had something I wanted and then leftovers I could give away.
I wonder if there is a way to see how many games I have purchased directly from Steam to see how many games I got for the $64. I can view my history, but it is full of transactions for a few cents from selling Steam cards.
Edit 2: I manually counted them and it looks like 135 games.

Check the comment from Mdk25 above. You can see a yearly listing of your purchases separate by "source" in your licenses:
https://store.steampowered.com/account/licenses/
You just have to click on the drop down menu at the top, right beside "Statistics" in whatever language Steam is set for you.
EDIT: It seems I forgot that I use Augmented Steam -_- And the feature is not Steam native.

I can see all the license activations in one long list, but I don't see anything that says statistics. Searching the page with my browser does not find the word "Statistics". Is what I am looking for on that licenses page you linked?

I've been on Steam 9.5yrs and something this thread made me realize is... maybe I should be buying more physical games and fewer Steam games. Because while my OldSpend is $0USD, my TotalSpend is $482.22USD and that's a lot of money for digital games/content that I essentially do not own. I don't know if I like this thread or hate it. lol

$186.68 in 8 years is actually a bit more, than I expected, as I mostly buy bundles on Fanatical and Humble, and some individual games on gray sites. Looking at history though, it explains itself - over $100 I've spent in my first 2 months on Steam, building my initial library, so less than $10/year for following 8 years is what I would expect.
Also, it seems, that gift cards are counted in this total (I've cashed 1 from LootBoy and 1 from Gamehaq).

Been a while since my last check, the current listed total is US$16683.73

It's been some time since I visited that page, so why not.
TotalSpend: 161.46 USD
OldSpend: 12.50 USD
Not bad considering I've been using Steam for 11 years at this point. However I couldn't tell you if that's accurate or not since for a couple of years before Steam axed ARS as a currency the exchange rate was all kinds of dubious due to our government's shenanigans, it does sound roughly right tho, at least for an amount before taxes.
Now, do not ask me how much I've spent on 3rd party stores and bundle sites because I don't wanna know myself.

From what i understood external probably doesnt include internal(like selling cards)- but thats unclear- but old spend seems to bundle all steam spending before 2015- from external funds and cards etc all added together, probably because until that date steam made no internal distinction.
Im on steam since 2007 and for a long time there were no good deals in other stores compared with steams regional pricing for my region, so i bought everything directly on steam so... (jesus my old spend is over 1k)

Read a news article today which mentioned a function I haven't known so far. Maybe it is actually new or I am just not very informed. Anyway, they talked about the Steam account data for "External Funds Used". As far as I understand, this refers to every cent supplied externally and ignores all purchases made with money you got by selling cards and items.
Out of curiousity, I checked my value (right now I am not 100 % sure if "Old spend" is included in the total spend but I think so):
Total Spend: 1994.83 USD
Old Spend: 357.02 USD
Under the assumption that old spend is included, it would mean I spent around 2000 $ on Steam. A good third (675 €) are from the Steam Deck. Would still be around 1300 $ for games (or market). Considering I am 13 years on Steam, it means roughly 100 $ per year. Which is higher than I expected. However, checking my history - which also is new to me - this also includes Steamgifts I bought for SG. So, it is lower. To lazy to make the math. Would be nice if Steam would already separate it into years, so I could check how it changed over time. Technically, I could do it myself. But still to lazy.
If you are curious, you can check your "pure" Steam spendings without "internally circulated" money and without bundle additions, here:
https://help.steampowered.com/en/accountdata/AccountSpend
EDIT: Did the math and about 317.5 € are for gifting stuff. Would leave 913 $ spend in 13 years, resulting in 70 $ spend per year. Which is cheaper than streaming.
