There are some mammoth threads that frequently need to be updated, so much so that I can't see how one person can do it without getting burnt out. Examples include the MASTER LIST of ongoing bundles, DIG Store / DailyIndieGame Store thread and HRK Make Bundle thread. Hats off to InquisitorAles, d3m4n and devotee (among others who created and maintain similar threads) for investing so much time to do it. I don't know if they'd want to share the load with others, but I could see why giving edit permission to other users that they trust would make their life easier.

Another common reason where an option to give edit permissions to others could be useful is for group recruit threads, especially if editing the OP would also trigger notification of responses. The way things are today, it's not so straightforward for multiple group admins/moderators to take care of such threads.

Dan Quayle's response: "Castration does not equal collaboration"

This would especially be handy with the discord server thread, as I do take vacation sometimes and would like to be able to change the invite link when necessary.

I haven't seen something like this either and wouldn't even suggest it if the forum was running on some common forum engine, but it seems to be using something that was built specifically for SG. In other words, one can always hope ;-)

That's cool for informational/bundle threads and stuff, so when we someone posts something incomplete and leaves for 6 hours someone else can fill it in.

I have always wondered why no forum software seems to have the capability to allow the delegation of thread editing capability or even the transfer of ownership. Obviously, you might have to place limits on it to avoid abuse, spamming, etc., but there are many situations where threads are abandoned or unable to be updated in a timely manner and allowing someone else to make changes, even if only temporarily, seems so self-evidently important that I can't figure out why it's never been built-in.

We have collaborative software like Wikis and we have forum software like Discourse, but never something that combines the two. Why?

Definitely a good idea, I hope there's some way cg can implement it as it would help in threads for events and contests too

The problem is an edit history must be implemented for this feature. Otherwise, the editor can do irreversible damage to the content of the post.

Edit history would be very nice indeed, but I don't think it's a must. As an OP I would only give edit rights to someone I completely trust, and if I want to make sure I have the original text I would guide them to keep a copy of it before modifying (or refer to the archive.org snapshot).
