So you're going to pretend to use them for gaming?

English is not my main language so sometimes the same word has a different meaning and it was late when i wrote this, i think the correct would be "plan" :)

Whats your budget?
Propably the best low-budget headphones are the Superlux HD681.
If you have a little bit more, i'd go with the Creative! Aurvana Live
And if your budget is still higher, i'd look into the Beyerdynamics DT770(for fully closed) or DT990(pro) headphones.

Skull candy all the way. It's incredibly good. But sorry, they aren't wireless. Stiller would be my choose.

At the price they want for them, aren't too bad is far lower quality than I demand. Might as well get some under-$5 earbuds.

I have used two different Skullcandy models, both circumaural. One wired, one wireless with a non-removable stick-style mic. This set is why I go for either removable or flexible microphones today.
Strong bass on both sets, but the wired ones had crackly bass sometimes, like the driver wasn't strong enough.
The wireless set sat a little hard on the top of my head, and I kept hitting the mic on my wrist when I reached up to scratch my head. Not an issue for everyone, but maybe for some. Perfect 5.1 reproduction as expected from any gaming headset, but not worth the 160 or so I would have spent if I didn't get them on clearance. The headset I have now cost 160 when I got it, retails today for 100, and fits better for me.
I would say that the wired ones were average. All surround sound processing is performed by the soundcard when using a wired headset, so simulated surround sound often sounds similar to one another unless multiple speaker drivers are used. It's been too long to remember what the highs sounded like, but as mentioned above, the bass crackled sometimes.
Perhaps they live up to the hype today, but I already have a set of higher quality than the ones I tried. I have no reason to test them again unless I see an in-store demo, and trust me, I'll try them again if I see them. I frequently test store demos, and that's why Creative Labs is not the only brand I like.
If you can try before you buy, do so. While I can guarantee that sound quality on the set I have now will make you smile, you may be unable to tell the difference from a lower priced, not not necessarily lower performance, model. Price and performance are only loosely correlated. There are plenty of inferior sets that cost more than mine did.

The Sony MDR-V6 is a great set of headphones that won't set you back a ton of money. They have great sound quality and are really comfortable. They are comparable to headphones 2x-3x their price.

They seem nice and at a resonable price, i will have them in mind. Also good reviews! Are they confortable? Because i will be using them for long periods
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, they are really comfortable. I have worn them for hours and never had a problem.

Cool, i am liking this ones a lot, specially as they have been around on the market for a long time.
Comment has been collapsed.
They look comfortable at the cups but how are they as far as squeezing against the head? And do they breathe?
I had a set in 1999 that looked similar to these. They squeezed just enough to grip my head without eventually causing ear pain where they touched, know what I mean?

That is my concern as once i made the mistake to buy some really cheap heasets and after a couple of hours i couldn´t even touch my ear it would hurt :/. I have used 2 diferent Sony headsets before which are cheapear and haven´t encounter this problem so i am guessing this won´t have this issue.

Bassicly Beats By Dre are good for everything but if u want mainly for PC gaming and gamers stuff u have to check razer electra :)

This picture combines headphone guides from several different sources and should help you find the best value for any budget.

Check this out:

May be helpful, since it's based on how good are they in gaming (with their soundstage and other things) instead of only sound quality.

Many headphones with mics (meaning headsets) have detachable mics. The best sounding headphones for PC aren't headphones, they're headsets.
These are selling for 100 USD right now. Very comfortable, and I wear these things between four to ten hours hours each day. I can stand about 30 feet away with two walls between myself and the PC and still connect. I wear these while washing dishes.
I have the mic detached most of the time. I don't know about all USB headsets, but mine doesn't need a sound card. They act as their own sound card, processing a 7.1 digital signal into believable two-speaker surround sound you'd swear was was using individual drivers for each channel. I haven't noticed any lag. I have owned this headset since August 4th 2012, and they have been in constant use since.

They seem nice. I plan to use a separate mic but a spare one is always usefull. How do you recharge it? If you run out of battery you need to switch to another headset/headphone or is there a way to recharge it while using them (with a wire or something)?
Comment has been collapsed.
They recharge via USB, even while using them, and come with a six foot cord. I keep it plugged in most of the time when I'm at the computer, but often do some cleaning while disconnected.
My place is small enough, and my pc is central, so it works for me. I have seen sets that are longer range, but use an antenna and aren't USB. I assume there are USB sets that have longer range than the 30 feet I get through one wall.

"The best sounding headphones for PC aren't headphones, they're headsets."
This is just blatantly false. The best headphones are headphones. Similarly, the best microphones are just microphones. There's a huge convenience by getting the two together but that's definitely not going to net you the highest quality in either department.
That being said, headsets have adequate audio quality for most people but you need to be aware that you are paying a premium over what an equivalent sounding headphone would set you back.

Wow, do I -not- remember typing what I clearly typed up there. You're correct. Being a headset doesn't make it have better sound quality.
I must have been thinking about how nice it is to me that I have a mic only when I need one, or comparing this set to an older set.

I use Shure SE535s but those are probably out of your price range unless you get a killer deal. I got the equivalent many years back when they had transitioned model names and the old one was discontinued.
As for a sound card: YES!
I'm using an Asus Xonar soundcard.

Those are cost too much for me to justify in this moment. I will investigate a little more on the soundcard. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I assumed. You can also check out other Shure models like the SE210/215. You can pickup the 215 for about $100 at Amazon. You can't really go wrong with Shure, Etymotic, or Ultimate Ear. I prefer in-ear monitors (IEMs) because those are generally going to get you the best possible sound. That said, you need to get used to something resting inside your ear canal which is going to be awkward at first.
I also have a conference mic that goes over my ear so I can have the same headset effect without needing to buy an actual headset.

Beyerdynamic DT770 Pros (80ohm or 250ohm versions) are really nice value for money. (good long cable too)
As for soundcard the asus essence stx is a beast and has a built in headphone amplifier capable of driving up to 600ohm headphones.
In all honesty the onboard sound on virtually all motherboards suck when you use a decent set of headphones on them
Comment has been collapsed.
Someone else recomended those too, will have them in mind for sure.
What is the difference between 80 ohm and 250 ohm?
Comment has been collapsed.
The ones with less ohm are easier to drive (so you won't need as powerful amp), but are more bassier (which may not be a good thing if you are playing competetively - it's hard to hear where the bass comes from, so headphone that has many details and less bass will usually be better than one with lots of bass and few details - partly that's why Audio-Technica ATH-AD700 are considered one of the best for gaming) and IIRC are less detailed or something...

Thank you for the response, i will search for 250 then.

I have a lexicon alpha for my guitar, not sure how beneficial it would be for voice though...
-EDIT-
Forgot to mention, the lexicon alpha is pretty cheap aswell, I bought mine for about €60 from a massive store in Germany (can't remember the name for now, will add it if I remember)
-EDIT 2-
Here is where I bought it :D

Hi peolpe of Steam Gifts,
I am looking for a good pair of headphones for my PC, ones with good sound quality which i intend to use for gaming and some audio editing (i will start with some videos really simple but would like something that suits the purpose).
I would like some wireless headphones as i always tend to throw something to the floor with cables but if the cable is long enough i guess that wouldn´t be a problem anymore.
Do you have any sugestions, if posible add a link :)
Thank you for your time,
Cheers,
PS: What about the Razer Electra or Kraken? I know Razer products are always more expensive from what they should be and have a lot of marketing behind, but i bought one of their gaming mice and pad which i am very happy with so i was considering them too. My only fear is they are much gaming orientated and not so good for music/editing/voice or just not as good as mor raditional headphones from other companies.
PS 2: Do you recomend a sound card to improve quality? I have the onboard only (MB model is msi z77a-gd55). I recently realised of this option so i would like something good but i don´t have that much money to spend on it, just something to improve if it is even nesesary, not like i am going to do more than gaming and some voice editing/video.
FINAL EDIT:
Just wanted to let you know i decided for the headphones Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro 250 Ohms (originally DT 770 but couldn´t find someone in my country selling the 250 Ohms model) + a Soundcard Asus Xonar STX.
I am waiting for the soundcard to arribe but i have to say i am very pleased with the headphones, can´t wait to see their full potential once i get the Xonar STX.
Thanks to all the people who helped me here!
Cheers!
