Hello dear SG Community,

I really have no idea what to do, I used to own a MC server, and was selling VIP donation packs etc, now, some dude desides to charge me back, all the donations were made through Buycraft (and Paypal ofc), for now I've sent PP my ToS which he signed when paying (like that the buyer agrees he knows he's buying digital goods etc) and a skype chat (which isn't in English) where I guide him how to pay and how to get his items (he even says, "here I've done the payment").

Still got no answer from PP, and I have no idea what else can I do, do you guys think the info I gave above is enough? I have nothing else which proves he'd bought the item. (So all I have is Buycraft traces, ToS, and Skype Chat).

Actually I've found this thread (http://www.spigotmc.org/threads/how-to-deal-with-chargebacks.950/page-2) gonna follow it and see what I can do.

I sold Realm of the Mad God items (when they were worth something) before and a couple times people chargeback. However, paypal has always sided with me and never refunded any money. This was all digital items.

you arent allowed to use paypal without a physical object being mailed, paypal will ask you for a tracking number so they can see he received anything, if you dont have a tracking number they will give him his money back, i stopped using paypal long time ago because of stuff like that

I think that's very wrong. Paypal can be used in a subscription based manner in return for a service, such as web hosting. You don't have to mail a physical object whatsoever.

I think so aswell, like Steam and Webhosting, all are digital, yet they are still sold with PP.
Anyway, what's your alternative?

Next time tell him to give you the money as a gift or family... this way he can't get a charge back, or refund...

false - if he choose gift or family he simply cannot automatically charge-back with a button click, but all he has to do is to contact PP support and they will give him chargeback right away. There is literally no way to be safe from scammers when selling digital goods via paypal.

If it's not gift/family then he can chargeback, and most probably get his money back.

If this option is not available in your country then you need to realise that this can happen.

had the same issue in the past - sadly the money is lost and nothing you can do. PayPal does not support payment for digital goods and doing so you do it on your own risk. Also in case of chargeback, if you cashed out, your balance can become negqative - in this case you will have 30 days to add money or your account will be banned and setting new one with the same name and adress is pain in the ass then.

Yeah I noticed, had to ask my employer to pay me early just to save my god damn account :|
Are you still using PP or have you found an alt? Also, when buying stuff online, I noticed a lot of people are asking me to write in the notes section a text, which acts as a ToS (basicly I write that I agree that I know it's digital goods etc), and when i asked why, they told me it helps them cover themselves, wouldn't my ToS do the same?

My fiancee set up alt account I'm using since then.

And about all what people ask you to write "I will not chargeback", "I already received itemsw" (even if you did not), "I accept ToS" and all the other are simply to disencourage you or particulary users who are not familiar with chargeback policy from doing so. But in fact whatever you do, you write down, whatever ToS they agreed on - for PP it means nothing. All it takes for me is to make a phonecall that "XYZ asked me to write it, but then scammed me, I want to request chargeback" - and like already pointed they will always take buyer's side by default, cause you are simply not allowed to use PP for paying for digital goods.

Your ToS means nothing for PP. All you can do with it is to use it to maybe legally prosecute the scammer - but via court of law, not via PayPal ;p

I see, thanks.
If nothing sorts out through Paypal, I'm going for the police, good thing that idiot lives in my country, big luck for me :)

Police can do nothing in such a case sadly, as it was civil agreement - breaking such a agreement is not criminal offence, hence not a matter for the police.

If you want to prosecute him you will have summon him to civil court - that's the only authorithy that can solve legal issues like this. Like you said - good thing he lives in your country, but you have to calculate if going to court is worthwile for you - remember that until he's proven guilty all bills from court are on you.

uhhh 20$ don't worth this long proceedure :|
Also a lawyer and sht like that, I guess if PP drops the case I'll just have to tunnel the money around all the time, via a few PP accounts, I lose tax but atleast no more stupid chargebackers :|
Thanks alot :)
