Why are there so many copies of "The Ship" being tossed around on Steamgifts?

There was a site that gave away thousands of Ship complete packs. Every single one of them also gives two two-packs to gift to friends. The deal is long over, but the shear mass of ships is still clogging up this site ;)

Personally, I love The Ship. It's a blast, and I have a great time playing it. I'm GLAD there were so many on SG, which is where I and my fiends all acquired it.

Can anyone comment whether those Complete Packs can be split? I'm just interested in the single player portion.

I highly doubt it could. It would be like any other game containing more than 1 item, such as dota2 and its test download.

You can't split it, but it will show up as separate entries in your library (actually, you will get 3 entries: The Ship, The Ship Single Player, The Ship Tutorial).
So if you don't want to play multiplayer, you can simply play singleplayer.
