Matchmaking is partly really bad for sure and I can imagine that it's hard to get out of bronze but there must be more.

I'm really interested in rl since everybody seems to love this game. As an industrial engineering student I'm broke af and not able to buy every game I want from my wishlist. There's not much creative I could imagine, just a boring german gamer and 9gagger :)

Take a step back, observe, and make sure you get better at reading the plays.
My mechanics aren't very good. People in champion and lots of people in diamonds are better than me mechanically. I can't even do a half flip and everyone else in champion can.
But my positioning is really good, I try to always be right place right time.
Just keep your eyes open not only on the ball, but always know where the opponents are and more importantly where your teammate is. I think that helps the most.
Don't challenge for all the balls. Concentrate on knowing when it's a good time to challenge, and when it's not. If your first instinct is the opponent will get there before me, it's probably the right instinct. Just let him take it. If you're the last person behind in defense, try to slow the play down, don't go for a crazy play. Put the ball in the corner, or play defensive, let your teammate time to recover.
Same thing in offense. If your teammate is coming back to defense, or is safe, it's okay to go for a crazy dangerous shot. But if he is still stuck in the corner, don't put yourself out of position trying an aerial that you will probably miss. If you miss it, it's their ball, and no one's in defense = auto goal.
So I think basically understanding rotations, playing more defensively when your teammate is in a bad spot, more offensively when your teammate is defending behind you, and knowing when to challenge and when to let the opponent waste all his boost for a shot he won't make because you're not falling for his bait.
Also try to find your teammate more. Side to side passes. Back passes. A lot of times it's better to pass to a teammate, or slow the ball down, or shoot on the backboard than it is to shoot on net if there are 2 people in net already.
tl;dr I notice people in diamond have really good mechanics (better than me!). They can aerial, dribble etc. But positioning and knowing when to challenge and when to be more passive is very important to win consistently.

That's definitely a point. Thanks for the advice. I guess my tactical play isn't that bad, yet I feel often unable to carry my mates although I'm maybe the best in the lobby concerning technical play.
And I perceive it as difficult to improve in a controlled way on tactics. You can do a training pack for the technical side but for tactics you have actively call the learned things in mind and sometimes even don't get an immediate feedback based on the skill level of your mates. That makes it really hard to train beside watching replays and self-evaluating.

Agreed, that's probably why people improve their mechanical skills more, with training drills and stuff. I'm so bad at those:/
But just trying to notice your teammate more helps. Little things like when you're in your net and the teammate is in the corner, sliding it in front of him so he has a big shot rather than you moving it forward with no momentum, etc.
