I bought the Watch_Dogs Standard Edition from the US Steam Store and want to trade it to my friend in Pakistan. Since I bought it from the US Store, I don't believe there are any restrictions on region-locking. However, my friend e-mailed Steam Support, and they said "Thank you for contacting Steam Support. Gifts are restricted to the region they were purchased in. Unfortunately you will not be able to redeem this gift."

I'm thinking Steam is wrong. Now if it was bought in Pakistan and I tried redeeming it in the US, it probably wouldn't work. But isn't my copy of the game ROW? I went to trade with him and added the game to the trade and he didn't see any red exclamation point that would indicate he wouldn't be able to redeem the gift.

I also don't know much about UPlay and whether that would affect redeeming the game in Pakistan. From reading the Store page, it looks like Watch_Dogs "incorporates" UPlay but I don't know if it requires it.

Will he be able to play this game if I trade it to him?

Big NOPE! First: G2A is a shady reseller, so it can get revoked ANY TIME, and recently they were selling Steam-Uplay codes. Without the Steam version in possession, you can't play the Uplay version either.

Also US doesn't have region lock, except for CD keys. I have never encountered US region lock on a gift.

G2A is not a shady reseller. G2A is a marketplace. I've bought from high rep users with no problem. If you have experience with marketplace sites you will be OK, but everyone is free to their own opinions yeah.

Look at their FaceBook page, and pray to God, that you didn't have any problems yet. I bought only 2 items from them, and I had problems with both. I bought a Watch Dogs Uplay key at around christmas, later it got revoked (it was from a high rep user), but fortunately it was reactivated by Ubisoft, because I actually played it. And then a few weeks ago I tried to buy Resident Evil Revelations 2, they rejected the payment, but took my money. I had to involve my bank to get that money back, because their resolution center helped nothing (I even purchased G2A shield too, so 100% Satisfaction my ass), but said that I will get my refund in 1 week. 2 weeks have passed, when I decided to cut their crap, and get the refund through my bank. So I wouldn't recommend G2A, unless you have money to gamble, money that you wouldn't miss, if they take it from you, and send nothing.
