You can install SteamDB extension and it'll tell you in the Steam redeem page what game it was when you try to redeem a dupe code.

Doesn't it show it automatically in the Steam app? Like when I redeemed a duplicate code once it said "activation for product X was not valid" or something. Is this not the case on browser?

I've never been told what game it was if the code was dupe in the client. Just that the key was redeemed in another account. Even if you have the "product already purchased" message, it doesn't say which game the key would be activating (and it doesn't say if the key is dupe or not). Maybe it's only in special circumstances like revoked keys or similar?

What? That's ridiculous, it always tells me the name of the game with the duplicate code message, I don't have any spare keys to test this with right now but you have to take my word for it.

This is new. In the past it never said what game it was, hence those methods I mentioned were the only way to know it.
If you have the product in your library, the client still doesn't say which game it is, or if the code is used - just tested it twice.

I just tried 7 keys, everyone single one told me the name of the game I tried to activate and gave me the duplicate product code message. Default Steam desktop client with no modifications.

It's also worth mentioning that only the SteamDB extension gives you the exact name and link of the sub on SteamDB, which is highly useful expecially as a SteamGifts user, for example to check for region restrictions.
