When I tried deciphering them I was getting 2 different results. One was incorrect while the other was the proper key. All were used by the time I tried but I can confirm the keys were real, same as the hint needed to decipher them faster.

I have a key that is supposedly a Steam key but it is in this format: ####-####-####-####-####
When I looked, it seems that all Steam keys have groupings of 5 characters/digits, and this has grouping of 4. Does anyone know if that is a valid format for Steam. If not, any idea as to which platform it might be? It is for Crysis 2.

There are a couple of old keys with uncommon formats. I think 4-4-4-4 could be SpaceChem for example. See:
Edit: seems like I miscounted the number of blocks of 4 in your post. Since it is an EA game, I'm pretty sure it's an EA/Origin key. Redeem here: https://www.ea.com/redeem after logging in. It should show you what it is before actually redeeming it.
