Pando is still necessary for the install, I think. You can safely unistall it afterwards, it's not used for patching.

It's sad that they still use it though. It's a horrible punch in the stomach for everyone who downloads LoL.

I am not letting this horrible piece of software near my pc ;-) (so uninstalling is no option as i would never install it)

what I do not get is why they do not use torrent files, would reduce the load on their servers too.

I'm pretty sure there are still people who don't know the first thing about torrents and would be discouraged from installing the game at all. Using 3rd party torrent clients is fine, but they should have done their research and picked one that isn't malware. And then integrated it into the game so that it only runs when the game runs and your internet connection is idle.
