Glad to see this policy implemented. Too many people were doing this :(

Thanks for this. It's too bad we even need policies like this.

Why not? Were you one of those that submitted a key this way? This hurts absolutely no-one. What possible reason is there to oppose a rule in place to stop hurting the developers?

No they didn't? The key is provided for your convenience to add it on Steam so you can have Steam features if you so desire. This key is not for re-sale, transfer or trade.

Its basically the equivalent of pirating, its kinda like walking into a store, buying 1 can of soda and shoving another into your pants to give to a friend.
Hope that makes sense sorta.

So if you went into a store and bought soda and they said "we have a bottle and it comes with a can as well so you can choose which way to drink your soda!" It would be wrong to give your can to a friend? You've only proven my point further haha XD

Examples with real-life items do not hold good enough.

Any question?

Why you complicate soda metaphor! :-(
(Should have used a car metaphor)

A totally logical step stopping people "offering" what they shouldn't.

WOW! How do I get a copy? I've been hearing alot of good things about this game but I can't buy it now.

So you're saying that you want a free copy somehow, correct?

Bigger moral problem would be if you ditributed DRM free version. Ony one person can activate and play Steam version. But with DRM-free version distribution is like pirating (you copy the game to friend and that friend copies it to another friend,...). I don't think gifting Steam key is a big issue.

Greetings community,
As discussed over in this thread and on the Official Grimrock forums, people have voiced concern this is unethical to give away the Steam key when you purchased the game from the developers. The argument is that the devs are giving gamers two ways to access their copy of Legend of Grimrock if you buy from them directly; both a non-DRM installer and a Steam key.
Unfortunately, this means that we have to treat Grimrock giveaways the same way we've treated Humble Bundles. Only giftable URLs when bought from the devs can be gifted and not Steam only keys. Unless the game is purchased directly through Steam and Legend of Grimrock is a giftable item, we will not allow these giveaways, following the same reasons that created the Bundle policies in the first place.
Existing Legend of Grimrock giveaways that do not state that they are unused giftable URLs will be removed. If you submit Legend of Grimrock, please update the description of your giveaway or it could be removed. Thank you for your understanding.
-best regards
