Thanks for sharing, I always wanted to have the original x-com, I heard so much good things about it... but when it came out before my time (well I was only 2 or 3 when it came out)

I would recommend OpenXcom which is a open-source clone of the game. It runs better on modern systems and includes multiple fixes to the original game :) There is also clone of the sequel (Terror from the Deep) but you have to own the original games to play these clones.

I heard of that before, but like you said in order to play as it you needed to own the original.
