We have confirmation that Final Fantasy VIII is scheduled for a PC re-release thanks to a link xarbas posted! According to the article, the Famitsu magazine stated it was on the way along with a trainer similar to Final Fantasy VII.

OHH FINAL FANTASY 8 SO MANY WONDERFULL MEMORIES! But yeah noting the quality of Sqaures FF7 pc "Remake" (slapped a patch on it and kept the shitty pc midi music.) It'd probably just be more worthwhile to run a PS1 emulator.

I really want FF8 for pc on steam with cloud saves etc.It was also possible to mod it with a bit better textures so yay to that too.

The one i really really want FF9 for PC imo that was the best FF game in Playstation 1 releases.

Either game on PC would be cheaper than their PSX version as well as the console to play them.

Being able to modify the game is a huge reason why PC will always trump console.

you can always use PSXEmu :D, i used bleem back in time played around 40 hrs and realized my 3rd disc was gone .

How did you extract the BIOS from your PSX for legal emulation of the system?

I'm not against it, but I don't openly support emulation as no one does it legally.

Of course it is not legally. It is like you break the door of some rich man and tell the others not to enter his house and steal but to beg for his money. But PS1 games are very old and the game maker don't care about the sale anymore.

Well, I owned a PS2 and actually did grab BIOS from there to use in PCSX2 emulator. So at least one person is doing that legally :P

So, I was just looking through FF8's achievements... By the "Lv.100 Boko" achievement, looks like this is the same PC version that includes the PocketStation game Chocobo World. Glad to see this :)

They didn't do squat to FF7, so I certainly don't expect anything done to FF8. Hopefully they have some basic fixes for modern PC though.

The only thing really bad about it was having to draw magic from draw spots and enemies, got boring fast, especially when draw fails or you get like 1.

The thing what was really bad about it in my opinion is that all the monsters level up with you.
Its easier to end the game on level 1 than on any other level, because leveling up is no use in that game.
Thats why I thought it was bad...
I ended in the second disc (playstation)

In what way did that ruin your game experience? Did that make the game too hard for you or wouldn't it let you feel superior to every monster in the game? Final Fantasy VIII is not without flaws, but not playing the game because it tries to auto-balance itself in order to make the experience consistent is rather silly, if you ask me.

I didnt like it, let me be in my opinion, I actually cant get how so many people suddenly get mad and agressive, just because I said that final fantasy VIII is a bad game.
I was just saying my opinion and suddenly a bunch of people scold me just because no reason.

FFVIII system was simply not about leveling up, you become stronger / overcome enemies there by collecting various Guardian Forces, sucking magic out of monsters and improving your stats with it, getting new equips and performing limit breaks. :)

The bosses had minimum levels so while the average fight it didnt matter its still easier to finish the game a little higher than level 1.

FFVII and VIII were made years ago and are the only ones (other than the online games) to be on the PC.

They didn't really make any changes to X and X-2, just revamped all the models. I imagine it's going to be the exact same PS2 game using the software emulation.

As with prior FFVII threads, money would be no concern to pick this up. Out of every game I've ever replayed that held a storyline, I've only ever replayed FFVII. Damn, I hope that this gets announced/released relatively soon, I'ved waited many... many years for a remake. It's almost as big of a desire as SC2 was after spending more than a decade in the SC series of games.
