I love VII too but VIII is my favourite game of all time. Played through it around 30 times by now (like 100% of everything type, not just quick, casual playthroughs) and never tire of it. I like how the achievements encourage you to go do all the sidequests and stuff.

I'm extremely excited for this. I have working PS1 copies and all but it'll be nice to have them on Steam. Achievements are fun too.

Hope I'm not the only one who noticed the 'level Boko' achievement for FFVIII. Means I might get to play the Chocobo World minigame for the first time on account of the fact that Sony were idiots with the Pocketstation and I never got a hold of FFVIII PC when it was out (luckily some might say, a lot of dissatisfaction with the port).

I wonder if there's still the item duplication exploit in the new PC version of FFVII.

I hope HD remakes will happen for both of these games, that would be so fricking cool .

I HAVE BOTH OF THESE GAMES ON PS1 AND PC, BUT FUCK IT. IMA SUPPORT GABEN'S ADDICTION TO MY WALLET AND MY NEW FOUNDED HABIT OF PADDING MY STEAM LIBRARY. GOD KNOWS I LOVE ME SOME FF7 AND FF8. I USED TO LOVE QUISTIS. WAY MORE THAN THAT FLAT CHESTED RINOA. BUT WHO AM I TO COMPLAIN. I'D SHAG EITHER ONE OF THEM IF THEY EXISTED. IF THEY WOULD ALLOW ME TO THAT IS. IMA BUY THESE GAMES.

As much as I will love this, FFVII and VIII NEED to be remade, to iron out bugs, fix up a few minor loose plot points (and extra content, PLEASE) and maybe set things up nicer for Crisis core and all other spinoffs (which VIII should get some of btw).

Overall it just needs an overhaul to graphics (as cool as the retro PS1 stuff is, some parts of the game had massive depth issues and layering problems that hindered gameplay, plus less than fantastic character models) which could add a whole new level of enjoyment to the games. Not to mention overhauling some of the minigames and menus to be more player friendly...

TL:DR it needs an update... Both games in fact. Hope it happens, there are plenty of people who never played these games, and if they look relatively shiny and new people would be drawn to play them.

Was I the only one that looked ff7 up on the square enix store?

I beaten FF8 at least 3 times, but I would play it again in the future...maybe. I can consider buying it on Steam even if I have both PC and PS versions already.
I do not own a FF7 copy but already played it once a few years ago, not sure about buying it on Steam.
