Top 1 stream has 46 viewers, and top 2 has 15.

I'm not sure if steam shows me all streams ordered by number of viewers, but from my fast look it looks like this, so this is a really low number, even lower than I expected.

It's not Twitch, but I don't think it's meant to be either. I like to have a quick view at someone actually playing a game I'm thinking about buying without the usual voice-over from a Twitch stream.

It's nothing compared to twitch, I mean that the feature is used by actually no serious streamers, and it's mostly a feature for players to show their friends how game looks like, just like in your case, rather than being a serious streaming platform.

In other word: disaster

The feature being used for it's intended purpose, I see no disaster. It was never meant to be a serious platform for streamers AFAIK.

I'm sure that guys who programmed it are not happy with the outcome. I know it.

Maybe Valve just wanted to add such function, or they have some hidden plan, but in the current situation it's simply not worth time and money spent on that from company's point of view.

Although I agree, it's not a disaster because it works, but the popularity of it is so negligible that I seriously doubt in it's future.

You have an interesting tendency to present your opinion as absolute fact. Truthfully, you have no idea what it's worth to Valve nor how much time/money was actually put into it.

It's a lightweight, extremely easy-to-use function that allows streaming for friends or small groups. I don't think it was intended as a "twitch killer" any more than Steam offering movies as a bane to Amazon or iTunes. They simply appear to be expanding their capabilities, something that has been progressing ever since they branched out from game development.

Its quite useful when you want to show a friend how game looks for 10-15minutes or when a new indie is released.

Yeah, I imagine that's a useful application of it,.

Maybe it would be good for showing a friend what to do if they're stuck and need help in a game as well. It can be easier to show someone rather than explaining it.

Well I personally have it always on for friends in case they want to have a quick view of a game I play atm but if I play a new release I put it on for everybody who wants to check it out which often get like 5-10 viewers

Now for showing how to complete something... you have a lot of those videos on YT already , especially for older games.

I watched a couple of streams when it was new just to check it out. A needy buddy of mine practically begged me to watch him once for a while so I did. Once got a request to watch me and I ignored it.

That's my total interaction with it :p
