One out of two possible things can cause you to lose contributor value:
The price of a game is lowered.
A game that you've given away gets bundled, and has a bundle date set to before your GA started.

Steamgift works on a precognition (future-telling) way. Also, whenever someone asks a question that was questioned like dozens of times, it reduces the user's CV value.
Because of the said precog effect it reduced your CV makign you asking while instead of looking up the forums, but at least fullfilling the prophecy and preventing the world being sucked up in it's own ass a blackhole.
Jokes aside, either game price dropped, or something was bundled when you gave it away, but only recently got added to the bundle list.

As it was said its either or of those two.

The reality here is the system is a bit flawed as (if I understand it correctly) you can give out a game that cost you 20$ and then a year later the price drops and you lose part of the value, even though when you gave it away it was at a specific price.

If the above is true then the mechanic of calculating CV takes into account current steam prices only - instead of recording the price of the game when it was given out. Personally I think that is a mistake, and one that could be remedied, but it would require the system to record the price for each game given - and for each user - in the database, and that would mean a rather large increase in queries to the database.

Still it seems unfair to someone that gave out (for instance) Witcher 3 when it cost 60$ to get for instance half of that if the price goes down a year later.

Besides its always fun to do 10 giveaways together only to see your CV decrease after... :)

At the end of the day, it is what it is (still the best of its kind :) )
