Just ignore unhelpful comments. I have made a freaking lot of unhelpful comments in this forum but today I am in a sexy mood to help.

A program. Just like "Steam" is a progrm and not a company either.

It happened the same to me man, don't worry. I recommend you to play it and installing it from Origin, you can disable some annoying options in the Origin settings to ensure a good experience. Since you don't get any advantages from the steam version like achievements and trading cards.

You've added the DLC to your game via your EA=Bioware=Orign account. So Origin downloads them your PC. How should Origin know that you've already installed the Steam version?
Advice: choose Steam xor Origin.

If you installed Dragon Age through steam you should turn off Origin (the client from EA and never run it until you finish the game). Whenever you are gona run Origin it will find the Dragon Age files and will start downloading the origin files (they are different and once they are installed you can't run the game from steam, only with the Origin client)
Also if you want to mod the game, there are some great texture mods on nexusmods you might wanna stay with the Origin version since most of the mods were designed for it. They will crash alot with the steam version. At least that was my experience.

Huh? I have installed DA:O on steam and I have no issues running the origin client. I have disabled auto updates for games though.

God, I hate these games which launch on 2 different platforms. I look at Farcry 3 Blood dragon, which launches from steam, opens in Uplay, then it just does nothing and waits for me to figure it out. But if I start the game from Uplay, it launches Steam and asks me to install...

Thank you all!
I guess Steam gave me the keys so I could try the awesome Origin client and give up on them. Everything is so confusing, but I guess I'll just go with the EA client, since the game is made for it. Good thing Steam gave me a sale for it

Actually Dragon age origins complete is a lil broken on steam, on origin works well. When you install the game via steam dlc don't show up, while origin patches the problem. But once you get the update from origin you'll get an error trying to launch it from steam.
I had the same problem: http://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/s0Csd/dragon-age-ultimate-edition-help
Edit: I'll add that you can redeem every single cd key from ea that you bought on steam, on your origin client as well.

Yes, it's downloading on Origin now... Will use it for DA from now on.
I also have a Burnout Paradise key I bought on G2A, I activated it on steam, but the CD key was already activated on Origin... Luckily, I wasn't redeemed for online play.

You could try contacting Origin support, they have a live support and will instantly resolve any issue after they make sure that the account in question is actually yours, be ready for questions and emails being sent with codes.
Had the same issue with my Dead Space 2 game on steam (the origin code it provided said that it was activated on another account, but I never activated it since I didn't know it gave an origin code) but I bought it through steam and not from another site (bought it before the humble origin bundles started appearing). They resolved the issue in 5-10 minutes by adding the game to my account.
Follow this link or google origin live support: http://help.ea.com/en/contact-us/new/
Sidenote: They might not help because the game is from G2A and they are known for reselling bundle codes. However I don't work for EA nor do I know their policy regarding G2A purchases. You got nothing to loose either way

I downloaded Mass Effect 2 on Steam, installed Origin few days later and I was able to play it through Origin, which in end I did, given how I got some free DLC not included in Steam version. Not sure about download though, leave it be, but I'd suggest playing Origin specific games through Origin. My only problem with it is the price of games and the fact that those greedy buttholes never go as low as Steam does pricevise. All in all, I never had problems with Origin downloads or games in Origin, which was quite a surprise given the rants I've seen from some people.

The game is worth it, it's like a generic MMO/generic movie combo I actually enjoy for some reason.

why do you run the steam client and origin at the same time anyways?

When I played it, Origin had a patch that Steam didn't. Not having the patch meant some of the DLC would not load properly (some of the time). I ended up playing it on Origin.

So today I bought Dragon Age: Origin Ultimate Edition on that pretty good sale on Steam, downloaded through Steam and while I was in game, with Origin on, I got an install dialog, which I rejected.
However, after I restarted Origin, it started downloading The Awakening and every other DLC (which are already on the PC)
Also, it's downloading a 9 GB patch under the Vanilla DA:O (got it for free a while ago)
Should I delete it off Steam and just install it from Origin?
