Awesome, it should never have taken so long, Larian is a competent studio with several great RPGs up their sleeves. I mean, imagine if it was Beamdog doing this :D Having said this, I am not overly fond of their sense of humor, let's hope they hire some decent writers and the lovely franchise will not turn into some goofy, laugh fest.

Larian currently released best selling crpgs so they probably earned enough to buy this license, i like this studio (Divinity Original Sin 1-2) and new BG should be the hit, same as BG2 which was maybe the best crpg.

Awesome news that Larian is doing it....but 5e rules? Not so awesome. I despise 5e so I'm not too optimistic about how it's going to turn out even though it's Larian.
For me 2e is always going to be king, with 3.5 being decent enough even though it turned Psionics into a dumpster fire.

For me 2 and 3.5 were great. 5 is like something made with MMO in mind but I think they maybe can make it work better than it does on paper?

Yeah, it was like they were trying to make a pen and paper MMO with 5.0. I suppose it would work better for this since it''s a video game so I guess we just have to wait and see.

even though I grew up with 2e, I can understand that it's not the best version. it's kinda confusing and clunky in a lot of little ways. BUT, with the expanded rulebooks, I feel 2e had a(n optional) rule for anything you could ever think of

I never thought 2e was confusing or clunky, it gives maximum freedom to the DM both creatively and with interpreting the rules. Of course, if you get a bad DM then it's going to suck because there really isn't much the players can do about it short of quitting, trying to quote rules to a DM in 2e doesn't usually turn out well if the DM is making it un-fun to begin with.
And yup, with the almost unending amount of supplements, addons, optional modules, and expansions there really is something for everyone with 2e.

lets just hope they test this game b4 they release it. there last game i hit 2 game breaking bugs. over 50 hr pissed away because they couldnt be bothered to test there shit. i think thats the last game i got day1 and will be my last ever.
