The PS3 is apparently an excellent Blu-Ray player, I read you even get DTS Master Audio via HDMI, and not even all high-end dedicated devices can offer that capability.

it is hardly overpriced, last time I checked it blu-rays only cost about 15-25% more than dvd's and remember you are getting HD content and more of it as they can hold more room for special features and such. Blu-ray games cost the same as dvd games (PS3 and 360).
If you don't really watch a lot of films I guess it would be overpriced to some people.
As for the players themselves although the top end of blu-ray players are much more expensive than the the top dvd players you can still get a good blu-ray player for £40/$60

ps3 and xbox games costs way more than pc games. or they do where i live

I think you misread my post, pc vs console price has nothing to do with blu ray or not, remeber 360 games are dvd9 just like pc games. They are cheaper because they have always been cheaper. What i meant was that ps3 discs are blu-ray and 360 discs are dvd but they still cost the same.

A Samsung model from 2012 with built-in wi-fi, web and media file support. It's a nice piece of kit. The LG ones didn't look as appealing to me, but they're probably not a bad choice either.

Most Bluray players are fairly similar, especially in the budget range. What normally sets them apart is the extras like connectivity, media file support, apps (like Youtube, Lovefilm, Netflix, etc.), and 3D playback. The BD670 is nearly 2 years old, so it might be worth looking into a more up to date model, as it will (hopefully) be a better piece of kit for the same kind of money. The Samsung BD-E6100 has good reviews floating around, as does the more expensive Sony BDP-S790.
Personally, I have a Samsung Bluray re-writer in an HTPC setup in the lounge.

I have a ridiculously massive HD movie collection, over 800 movies, but yet i own only 1 Blu-Ray. (Despicable Me :P)
My "Blu-Ray Player" is an Asrock ION 3D 152B which runs a my own personal custom built Linux OS with XBMC as the front-end.
Good on you with the LG although I don't like plasma personally.
I've just purchased an LG LED Cinema3D Smart TV and its picture quality is fantastic.

$35 LG BP 125 Blu-Ray player, it has USB so it can play from external HDD and it upconverts DVDs.
No discs though.

Don't own a regular player or any Blu-Ray discs, but my PC has a Blu-Ray drive so I assume I could use that.

I bought a 55" LG 3D LED TV and I got an LG 3D Blu-ray home theater package with it. Couldn't be happier.
