So this is the first time I've used this service, all I've used was Steam before for purchasing stuff.

I was curious how the gifting procedure works in SG for the site, do I just email them the keys myself? Do I do it through GG's gifting methods?

Figured I'd ask before making any errors that would strike against me.

Any other additional tips would be helpful or future stuff as well.

You can email them or add them and write the cd-key. There is a gifting function on gamersgate also.

You can send keys from any store, but they have to be steam redeemable games.

What atroxic said. If you want to give a GamersGate-hosted game that you bought there then either do a forum giveaway or ask a SteamGifts mod for permission to use them in a regular giveaway. If you're talking about a Steam key that you bought from GamersGate then you're welcome to use them in a giveaway. If you have a gift key then yes, you would be able to email it to the winner.

Use always the suggested gifting function, if it's possible. It's the best way.

Doesn't the gifting function on GamersGate require the recipient to have an account there?

But unfortunately on deals such as Magicka 4 packs, you can't actually see the serial keys for 3 of those games, so you have no other option than to use the gamersgate gifting method, Like I had to. It still works as well though, but just a slight inconvience for the recipient if anything.

enter your own email address as the gift recipient. The copies will show up in your own Gamersgate library with CD keys. You can then send those CD keys to the winner without them needing to create an account.

If you buy the 4-pack, it gives you 1 CD key and 3 copies that you can only gift. These do not have the reveal my CD KEY button available. In this case, you would need to do what I said above, which is the comment I was replying to

Basically it doesnt matter how you do it, as long as they get it and its a game that activates on Steam

You're welcome

As long as its steamworks, it doesnt matter how the recipient gets it, GG method or just giving them the key.

  1. send game directly to your friend's GG account, and let your friend check the cdkey.
  2. send by email and let your friend redeem it on GG.

Apologies for bumping this ,
I bought 2 copies of Just Cause 2 on GamersGate earlier .
One for me and one to gift here .

I have a giftable copy in my GamersGate account , so is it easiest to use the GamersGate gifting method to give the winner the game ?

I don't want to make a mess of revealing the key ;)

Just want to check ,

Thanks .

It's probably easiest to reveal the key and give it to the person. It's probably SAFEST (for you) to gift it though gamersgate's gifting system... there's easy proof, and no question that it was an unused key that way

Thanks ,
I gifted it through the GamersGate system .
You're right about proof of unused keys .
It was my first givaway , so just wanted to make sure I did it the right way .
(I hope the winner enjoys it )
Thanks again .
