Meh, I find it useless information when it comes to this site but someone was trying to use sg as Okcupid a few ago so this might be a popular idea.

If it's really important for someone , he could anyway place a flag in his profile-picture....a flag of his choice.
It makes me unhappy enough that I get a german flag anywhere, instead of a proper one. It was not an act of friendly accession, that bavaria got part of germany.

As others asked before: what for? I see no use for such a feature and you should also point out, if one gets to choose the country or it's IP based or what.

I voted no because I don't see any significant utility with this suggestion and it risks giving users another means by which they can discriminate and prejudge others. While it's true that one could simply check the user's Steam account for location information, if available, and that this information could simply be synchronized on SteamGifts (unless it's gleaned from the IP Address), what use is this feature? And moreover, is its utility worth the unintended or undesirable consequences of its addition, such as discussions in different languages within a thread or possible discrimination and prejudice by members based on nationality? Without a compelling reason or argument for its implementation, this—with all due respect—seems like another trivial feature that distracts the administration from developing more useful ones.

Nah, a bit of anonimity feels good in this age of social networking. No please.
