Nope. I have played bf4,titanfall,MWO, and lots of other non steam games while idling or using idle master. Used several other applications with no issues. The issues someone will run across will be on their end of things...They cant run several apps at once because of their rig. Or they run several games at once on steam and wonder why card drops are slow.

Thanks for the replies guys. From the answers it seem I might not be clear enough - what I mean are applications that is bought on and launches from steam (such as the Magix PC check and YouNeedABudget). They show up on your steam status (for example, "Udgard is currently on XXX application."), so I was worried that it might affect the card drop rates.

Yes, these will indeed affect your drop rates or even stop them completely. As PeiLing already explained, any Steam app will do so.

I know that being online in more than one game at a time reduces the drop rate of cards (makes it take longer), but do applications affect drop rate in the same way? I might need to turn off that magix PC thing if I it does :/
I know I can just check it myself, but I only have 1 more game with card drops, so I might not get enough chance to properly observe the difference myself.
