I love rhythm games. I had two plastic guitars for Guitar Hero and Rock Band when I was younger (two because one broke). I'm sad to see such an awful fate for these games, even though they made a comeback last year and Rock Band is doing great. Guitar Hero was always my favorite, though. The less rigid timing made the game a lot more fun to me. Too bad it became what it is now.

Edit: I'm also very sad Rock Band is not on PC and that the project to raise funds they made failed. I would have paid for all of it myself if I could.

I remember using my GH2 controller for rock band and being shocked as hell that it worked.

+1 Necrodancer Rocks!

Actually, players with good hand-eye coordination can actually do sight reading to play rhythm games, even those ones that you've mentioned. So, it's kinda possible to play songs that they've never played before.

+1 on NecroDancer though, it was a damn good fun.

It has aweful controls

Nah,they just require time to get used to.

This is what bad controls is. Good controls doesnt require to waste a crap ton time to get used to or at least they are remapable.

Was Top player in my country once, but studies and stuff like that made me choose games I want to play more carefully. :/

You have no idea how many keyboards and mouses (because I was stupid enough to click with mouse at some point) I've buried in my back garden. ;_; But it was fun to play with some of my friends. It's been years since I played. :/

I'd probably poke right through the pad with my bashing skills :'D
Mouse + Keyboard was my main. I'm not a fan of tablets or touchscreens.

if ya didn't use the mouse to click,do you bind it to a button on yer keyboard?

Yep, it's way easier to click that way :3 "Z" and "X" and good to go.

Audiosurf 2 is my jam! The game is more of a puzzle game rather than a rhythm game, but still - AS2 is my favorite.

I can play GH on expert, i can play osu 3.5-4 stars, i can play Pump it up up to 20, tattakae ouendan? on 3ds completed. Neon drive completed, too lazy to play necrodancer - too much stuff to memorise too lazy - i prefer those games where you can use reflexes over memorisation.

that seems neat! since all i have are just the plain cheap plastic maps that come with just about every DDR game and i hafta stomp hard :(

but alas das arcade metal, none of those are around my area anymore.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Ddr is way worse than pump because of 2 reasons - 1st button positions in ddr is very unnatural, from biological side of view, and in pump buttons are okay, and 2nd - lack of hard songs and doubles in ddr, because of the 1st reason mostly, but ddr has more strict presize wise. Feel sorry for you that you dont have arcade machines in your area cus plastic mat is pretty shitty way to play this game, and metal pad is way better :\
